摘要: A page binding device for binding pages 11 from a printer. The device having a support tray 18 for receiving and stacking printed pages 11 to form a bound document, and an adhesive applicator 16 for applying a two part adhesive to the printed pages. The two part adhesive has a first part and a second part, wherein the first part and the second part must contact eachother to form an adhesive bond. The adhesive applicator 16 applies the first part of the adhesive to one side of the printed pages and the second part to the opposite side of the page 11. The printed pages 11 are stacked in the support tray 18 such that the first part of the adhesive on one page 11 contacts the second part of the adhesive on the adjacent page in the adjacent page in the stack.Using a two part adhesive allows the adhesive applicator to be easily incorporated into a duplexed printhead assembly 13. As each side of the duplexed printhead 13 would only eject one part of the two part adhesive, the nozzle are far less prone to clogging.

摘要: Groups of differently printed advertising inserts are collated into stacks of at least two inserts each, and the stacks are advanced along a main predetermined path for feeding to a host machine having continuously moving pockets which contain newspaper jackets and which receive the collated stacks of inserts in order to marry the inserts and the jackets. Initially, at least two relatively tall stacked bundles of inserts are located above and are spaced laterally from the main path. Inserts are stripped from the tall bundles, are advanced laterally toward the main path and are stacked in two relatively short queues located above and spaced along the path. A first vacuum belt strips inserts from the upstream queue and advances such inserts in an upstream direction as a running shingle, which then reverses directions and proceeds downstream. As an incident thereto, successive leading inserts are stripped from the shingle and are advanced in spaced relation along the main path toward the host machine. Inserts in the downstream queue are stripped therefrom by a second vacuum belt and are advanced upstream as a second running shingle, which also reverses directions and proceeds downstream. As the second shingle proceeds downstream, successive leading inserts are stripped therefrom and are placed on top of the spaced inserts previously stripped from the first shingle and being advanced along the main path. Spaced stacks of collated inserts are thus formed. The stacks are elevated from the main path, simultaneously inverted and turned at right angles to the main path, advanced laterally relative to the main path and then fed vertically downwardly into the pockets of the host machine.

摘要: The inventive method and apparatus serve to combine into groups different printed products supplied as continuous flows (1, 2, 3 etc.), on at least one grouping section (10.1, 10.2, 10.3), in which each group can have a composition of in each case one product from different supply flows corresponding to a predetermined group sequence. The production of faulty groups is prevented, in that in the supplies errors are detected at an early stage, so that groups affected by an error, are not formed in the predetermined cycle and are instead displaced by one cycle. The group flow leaving the method consequently contains only gaps and not faulty groups. For performing the method between the supplies (63.4, 63.5) of products and the grouping (10.1, 10.2) are introduced a supply control, a supply buffer storage and a controlled delivery. The means (64.2, 64.3, 64.4 etc.) for performing these three method stages are constituted by conveyors with cams or drivers, which are interconnected with a drag connection and which are moved by two substantially independently controlled drives on a continuous guide. The drivers are controlled following an acceptance point at which they have accepted a product from the supply unit (63.4, 63.5) and faulty products are recorded. They then pass into a buffer storage space and leave the latter through a controlled delivery point, where they deliver the product into the grouping.

摘要: Apparatus for producing sets of copies from a set of document sheets, some of which can be produced in a collating mode by means of a recirculating feeder and others cannot be produced in a collating mode. The copies that are produced in a noncollating mode are stored temporarily. Programmable means control the making of copies in a collating mode and the delivery of copies temporarily stored so that the copies arrive at a receiver or finisher in collated sets of copies with the page order of the copy sets corresponding to the page order of the document set.

摘要: A collating path for flat goods with: a conveying apparatus, which has, in its longitudinal direction, a plurality of collecting areas, arranged one behind the other, into which the goods are collected and are transported at a conveying speed in a conveying direction; at least one exchangeable feeder station or a plurality of exchangeable feeder stations that keep goods in stock and are arranged along the conveying apparatus in such a way that the goods stocked in the feeder stations can be deposited in the collecting areas; and a control device, which is coupled to the conveying apparatus and the feeder stations so as to control the deposition of the goods from the feeder station into the collecting areas. In order to more flexibly design such a collating path, guaranteeing a compact structure, and to make as simple as possible an equipping of the collating path with feeders and as simple as possible an exchange of feeders, provision is made so that the exchangeable feeder station can be inserted at arbitrary work positions into the collating path and the control device is set up to receive information from which the control device determines the absolute release position of the feeder station or each feeder station along the conveying apparatus at which the individual feeder station releases the goods stocked in it onto the conveying apparatus.

摘要: In a sheet handling system with an array of multiple individual sheet stacking bins and a sheet feeding system for feeding sheets from a sheet feeding output nip thereof into selected bins, for stacking of the sheets into the selected the bins, with relative movement between the sheet feeding system and the multiple individual sheet stacking bins; an automatic nip extending system is provided for automatically moving the sheet feeding output nip out into an individual bin for improved sheet control for the feeding of sheets into the bin, and an automatic nip retracting system for automatically moving the sheet feeding output nip out of the bins for unobstructed relative movement between the sheet feeding system and the sheet stacking bins, in coordination with the relative movement between the sheet feeding system and the multiple individual sheet stacking bins. The nip extending system preferably includes a repositionable extended loop sheet feeding belt.
