    摘要: Disclosed are novel blends of peroxides that are liquid at room temperature. Blend (1) consists essentially of dicumyl peroxide and cumyl isopropylcumyl peroxide and blend (2) consists essentially of bis(alpha-t-butylperoxyisopropyl) benzene and isopropylcumyl t-butyl peroxide. The blends are useful in crosslinking polymers such as polyethylene.

    摘要: The present invention provides a process for making diphthaloyl peroxide by reacting phthalic anhydride with aqueous hydrogen peroxide at a pH controlled to between pH 8 and 10, preferably pH 8.8 to 9.2 and a low temperature preferably maintained at 0.degree. to 5.degree. C, and thereafter removing diphthaloyl peroxide from solution, suitably by acidification and filtration. Preferably excess solid phthalic anhydride is employed and is filtered out before the solution is acidified. Desirably the concentration of active oxygen species is maintained at below 0.3 moles/liter.Diphthaloyl peroxide is particularly suitable for bleaching/washing fabrics, optionally in conjunction with an inorganic persalt e.g. sodium perborate, at a temperature of from 30.degree. to 60.degree. C.

    摘要: In purifying a normally solid organic peroxide by heating an aqueous suspension of the organic peroxide in an impure state to a temperature above the melting point of the peroxide for converting the suspension to an aqueous emulsion and then separating the resulting aqueous and liquid peroxide phases so that the separated peroxide phase can be solidified by cooling; the heating of the aqueous suspension is effected by injecting finely divided steam therein during its continuous transport in one or more paths leading to the separator for obtaining complete melting immediately prior to entry of the emulsion into the separator without substantial decomposition of the organic peroxide.

    摘要: A process is disclosed for the preparation of granular or pulverulent organic peroxides which are solid at temperatures ranging from -20.degree. to 55.degree.C by solidifying the peroxide in liquid form with a liquid cooling medium which at most hardly dissolves the peroxide, which is liquid at a temperature of -20.degree.C or lower, and which is gaseous at the storage temperature of the peroxide to be solidified. An example of the liquid cooling medium is liquid nitrogen and an example of the organic peroxide is diisopropylperoxydicarbonate. The present process permits the formation of granular or pulverulent solid organic peroxides without traces of liquid peroxide which can cause safety problems.
