摘要： A stable, aged composition suitable for depositing a coating by electrophoresis comprising an aqueous dispersion of a mixture of from about 2% to about 60%, by weight, of (A) polymeric substantially water-insoluble, substantially fully etherified polymethylol melamines or guanamines and correspondingly from about 98% to about 40%, by weight, of (B) a water dispersible non-gelled polymeric material carrying an ionic charge which polymeric material contains at least one class of reactive groups, alcoholic hydroxy groups and amide groups wherein the amount of said groups is at least about 3%, by weight, and not more than about 30%, by weight, based on the total weight of said polymeric material wherein said groups are heat reactive with (A) wherein said percentages of (A) and (B), by weight, total 100% and are based on the total solids weight of (A) and (B).

摘要： Coating compositions comprising an unsaturated oil modified resin and an unsaturated melamine condensate. The unsaturated melamine condensate is a condensate of a methylolmelamine, an acrylamide, an ethylenically unsaturated fatty acid amide and optionally a C.sub.1 to C.sub.10 alcohol, wherein the methylolmelamine has at least about 5 methylol groups per melamine ring, wherein substantially all the methylol groups are condensed with the acrylamide, the unsaturated fatty acid amide or the alcohol, wherein the number of the acrylamide moieties of the condensate is in the range of about 1 to about 4 per melamine ring and the number of unsaturated fatty acid amide moieties is in the range of about 0.5 to about 2 per melamine ring, wherein the ratio of the acrylamide moieties to unsaturated fatty acid amide moieties is in the range of about 1:1 to about 3:1.

The resin composition is useful for use particularly in top coat paint composition for automobile outer panels.

摘要： Stable, homogeneous thermosetting, liquid resin compositions useful for treating the surface of felted mineral fiber-board panels which are bonded with a hydrophilic binder to reduce sag and method of making the same. Compositions of this invention comprise a copolymer blend of (1) from about 25% to about 55% by weight, of a melamine-formaldehyde copolymer and (2) from about 75% to about 45% by weight of a urea-formaldehyde copolymer. These compositions may be stabilized through the addition of from about 0.05% to about 0.5% by weight of an ammonium hydroxidesodium hydroxide stabilizer solution. Resin compositions of this invention may be reduced with water and/or compounded with fillers and other materials or they may be used alone.
