    摘要: A stormwater pollution separator and filter apparatus to be fitted inline in a stormwater conduit. The apparatus has an inlet (1) receiving stormwater and leading through an inlet aperture (3) to a separation chamber (4) which then leads to a filtration chamber (5) which is positioned below the inlet aperture (3). A riser (6) leads from the filtration chamber (5) to an outlet (7) which is connected back to the stormwater conduit (3). The inlet opening is connected tangentially into the separation chamber (4) to create, in use, a swirl action in the separation chamber (4) by reason of the flow of the stormwater. The separation chamber (4) is positioned vertically above the filtration chamber (5), and the filtration chamber (5) has one or more filtration baskets (9) positioned in the filtration chamber (5) to receive substantially all the flow of stormwater from the separation chamber (4), the baskets (9) are spaced apart from a wall (10) defining a periphery of the filtration chamber (5). An overflow communicates directly between the inlet and the outlet, and a weir (14) is positioned in the overflow to prevent flow through the overflow unless a predetermined level of stormwater is exceeded.

    摘要: The toilet discharge system includes a valve with a body (1) and a shutter member (2), and an unblocking apparatus for the shutter member which acts to displace the shutter between the closing position and an auxiliary position and to return it subsequently to the closing position. Advantageously, the shutter member is a rotating element, and its displacement takes place along the direction of its rotation axis; the unblocking apparatus can include a pneumatic system which injects air into two chambers (6, 7) defined between the valve body (1) and the shutter member (2), on two opposite sides of the latter. The method of operation consists in submitting the shutter member of the valve to a cycle which includes a displacement between the closing position and an auxiliary position, and subsequent return to the closing position. The shutter member is thereby prevented from becoming blocked, by avoiding formation of scale of lime and the like, and lubrication and cleanliness of the valve are improved.

    摘要: Apparatus and a method are aimed at reducing flood risk from stormwater draining from a property (1). The apparatus is adapted in use to retain stormwater at the property (1) releasing it from the property and comprises a container (6) which in use is located underneath or proximal to a building (2) of the property (1), and a control chamber (3) with which the container (6) is in fluid communication. The apparatus is operatively connected in use by at least one conduit (4) to drainage means (5) sourced externally from the building to receive stormwater into the container (6) by way of the control chamber (3), and is further operatively connected in use to at least a second conduit (7) to which stormwater exits from the container (6) by way of the control chamber (3). A level of stormwater in the control chamber (3) determines the inflow and outflow of stormwater into and from the container (6). Debris is prevented at the control chamber from entering into the container and passing to the second conduit (7). Stormwater may be pumped from the container for watering a garden or other uses. The property (1) may comprise a series of buildings (2), each with its own stormwater retention.

    摘要: An apparatus for and method of filtering hydrocarbon contaminated water is disclosed herein. The present invention may be used in drainage openings, particularly in parking lots and containment areas for large sources of hydrocarbons such as oil tanks or electrical transformers, to remove hydrocarbons from hydrocarbon contaminated water. The apparatus has a filtration compartment which filters out debris and sediment which may clog the treatment compartment. A pre-filter attachable to the apparatus may be used to further aid in filtering out sediment. A means for melting snow and ice may be incorporated within the filtration compartment such that liquid flow is not hindered during extreme weather conditions. The treatment compartment contains a hydrocarbon absorption media which absorbs any hydrocarbons present in the water rendering such water substantially hydrocarbon-free for discharge directly into a stream or groundwater. In the event of a hydrocarbon spill, the hydrocarbon absorption media forms a plug which seals off the flow of contaminated water. A hydrocarbon solubilizing material capable of effectively removing sheen in a first pass may be disposed as a top layer over the hydrocarbon absorption media. Preferably, each compartment is manufactured as a cartridge which may be dropped into a housing inserted into a drain opening.

Utilization of the existing sewer system provides a way to obtain cost effective electrical cost reductions, flow equalization capacity, or an optimized combination thereof. With the disclosed invention it is possible to equalize wastewater flows, or alternatively to shift flow peaks from the on-peak electric rate periods to the off-peak electric rate periods providing less equalization.
