    摘要: A ceiling, preferably made of wood, to be suspended from an existing ceiling of a room comprising a plurality of perimeter support members adapted to be attached to antipode walls of the room. The perimeter supports having a rabbit channel along their top edge. The suspended ceiling including a center beam having inner side and an outer side, the inner side designed to face the interior of the room, the outer side of the center beam having a pair of channels extending along the longitudinal dimension of the center beam, a brace designed to attach to the outer side of the center beam for fixedly attaching the center beam in a pre-determined location to the ceiling, and a plurality of ceiling panels designed to extend from (and supported by) the perimeter supports and the center beam. Each ceiling panel has at least one rail attached to the front side for communicating with a rabbit joint on the perimeter supports for securing the ceiling panel. If the ceiling panel has a second rail, it is used to communicate with the channel on the center beam further restricting movement of the ceiling panel.     摘要: An efficient and reliable installation for a water tight and an aesthetically pleasing transition between adjacent building or construction components is provided with use of a backer rod material for placement between adjacent building or construction components for subsequent caulking. A closed cell foam backer rod material includes a terminal end portion of the backer rod joined to a remainder thereof by a frangible connection or perforated joint. The frangible connection or joint in the backer rod is nonlinear or arcuate-shaped to provide a crown-shaped or convex-shaped backer rod surface to receive the caulking compound to finish the joint. After the backer rod material is installed into the joint, the terminal end portion of the backer rod is removed by being torn along the frangible joint. A bead of caulk or similar finishing material is applied in the recess to provide a smooth and aesthetically pleasing transition from the frame to the wall. The convex or crown shape of the exposed surface of the backer rod material allows for and promotes integrity of the caulking compound during shifting, expansion and/or contraction of the adjacent building components relative to each other.

    摘要: A suspended ceiling provides horizontal areas of different elevation and a transitional area between the horizontal areas. The ceiling comprises a grid of horizontal intersecting supports and panels received by the supports. The transitional area is constructed by inclined supports connected to the horizontal supports by clips of special design. In a situation where three supports converge, a clip is provided having three channels diverging at appropriate angles. In a situation where four supports converge, a clip is provided having four channels diverging at appropriate angles. The clips include tabs which are crimped over the horizontal supports and the inclined supports of the transition area. The clips are of metal and of sufficiently thin gauge so they can be bent to provide the angles necessary in the transition area. An important feature of the invention is the ability to make modules comprising the grid for transition areas on a jig in a shop and transport it to a job site for installation.
