摘要： A reciprocating ram or hammer is disclosed for driving flat nails in mines without danger of creating sparks that might ignite inflammable gases that would cause an explosion. The hammer comprises a cylindrical tube in which a ram is reciprocated to strike an anvil or drive pin which pushes against a flat nail by overcoming the resistance of a helical spring in the tube. As the nail is being driven, it is held at the end of the hammer by a permanent magnet. Such flat nails are commonly driven overhead for suspending lines.

The sleeve bore is stepped, defining seats for a plurality of ball bearing races mounted therein. A rotatable stepped shaft having a diameter adapted to fit within the central bore rests on the ball bearing races. The shaft is connected to a motor mounted in the explosion-proof container with the spacing defined between the inner wall of the cylindrical sleeve and the outer surface of the freely rotating shaft being sized a predetermined tolerance for a predetermined length sufficient to prevent a flame from passing therethrough.

摘要： The surveillance signal apparatus is preferably provided a signal lamp, as an illuminated switch or as an illuminated key. It comprises a casing with electrical and electronic connections and with an apparatus heat disengageably disposed at the casing. The apparatus head comprises a signal part provided with electric voltage and preferably an illuminating element. A voltage limiter and a current limiter are disposed in an explosion-proof and pressure tight encapsulated space of the casing and they are electrically predisposed to the signal part in the apparatus head via a feed part. The apparatus head with the signal part and the feed part are formed by the output of the voltage limiter and by the output of the current limiter as an explosion protection self safety unit.

摘要： A duct section serves as part of a supply system for supplying electric power or a pressure medium to a mobile appliance and especially to a mining machine in a mine working where protection against explosion or fire is necessary. The duct section has a wall with a longitudinal slot therein and pick-up engages in the slot to collect the electric current or pressure medium. The slot is sealed with the aid of thin flexible sealing strips held flat against the inner and outer surfaces of the slotted wall. The pick-up is shaped to progressively deflect the strips away from the slotted wall to permit the passage of the pick-up and maintains the interior sealing with the aid of further seals slidable engaging with the slotted wall over the region where the strips are deflected.

摘要： An intrinsically-safe battery power supply for electrical equipment in underground mining and in other areas exposed to the danger of explosion is disclosed. The power supply includes at least one chargeable storage battery cell disposed in a battery housing. At least one storage battery cell comprises a chargeable lithium storage battery cell and the battery housing is configured to be pressure-resistant and to receive all lithium storage battery cells in a manner so as to be protected from explosion. The pressure-resistant configuration of the battery housing enables the use of lithium storage battery cells in underground mining. Once the battery power supply fulfils all requirements of ignition protection certification, even modern types of lithium storage battery cell can be disposed in the battery housing.
