    摘要: A turbomachine for moving air includes a shroud 12 disposed about an axis A. The shroud 12 has a pair of opposing faces 14 and 16 defining a gap 18 therebetween. The opposing faces are disposed generally transversely with respect to the axis. A rotor assembly 13 is mounted for rotation about the axis. The rotor assembly has a plurality of blades 22 with tips of the blades being coupled to an annular band 30. At least a portion 32 of the annular band is disposed in the gap 18. Seal structure 36 extends from each opposing face of the shroud and into the gap to reduce swirl and minimize air leakage across the gap.

    摘要: Disengagement of the C-clip in turbine shroud assemblies is prevented by providing a C-clip retainer. The shroud assembly includes a shroud support having a hook and at least one shroud having a mounting flange. A C-clip overlaps the hook and the mounting flange to clamp the shroud to the shroud support, and the retainer is secured to the shroud support and located so as to engage the C-clip. The retainer engages the C-clip in such a manner so as to limit aft axial movement of the C-clip, thereby eliminating C-clip back-off.

    摘要: A turbomachinery seal (20) attached to annular member (30) which surrounds and rotatably engages a shaft (34). The seal is capable of sealing pressure differentials between a high pressure region (24) and a low pressure region (26) well in excess of 300 psi at relatively low leakage rates. One embodiment (120) of the seal includes a plurality of confronting plates (128) arranged so as to form an annular structure. Another embodiment (220) includes a plurality of bristle packs (252), each positioned between annular plates (256) having an axial taper (278) adjacent radially inner ends (274). In another embodiment (320) bristles 334′ and 334″ extend in axial positive and negative directions so as to create an interleaved bristle structure. In yet another embodiment (720), a plurality of elongate members (450) are embedded within bristles (434). A turbomachine (550) includes seals 520′ and 520″ of the invention.

    摘要: A diaphragm has an annular groove formed of deep and shallow grooves with the deep groove opening into the shallow groove. A combination spill strip/brush seal is disposed in the groove. The brush seal comprises a pair of flexible bars secured to the proximal ends of the brush bristles by welding and is received in the shallow groove and a recess in an axial face of the spill strip. The spill strip has base portions extending into the deep groove. The combination spill strip/brush seal is secured in the annular groove by peening material of the diaphragm into the spill strip/brush seal combination. The brush seal may be used with different diameters of spill strips and diaphragm grooves.
