The fuel injection system for injection carburetors is provided with an air section of regulator and a fuel section of regulator which are arranged opposedly to each other on both the sides of a suction tube, and a connecting member equipped with a fuel injection valve for controlling fuel injection from the fuel section of regulator into the suction tube. The air section of regulator comprises a depression chamber and an air chamber which are separated from each other by a diaphragm, whereas the fuel section of regulator comprises a fuel chamber and a fuel injection chamber which are separated from each other by another diaphragm and communicated with each other through an orifice. The depression chamber is so adapted as to receive negative pressure from a venturi in the suction tube. The connecting member is connected between said two diaphragms and is urged so as to close the fuel injection port with the fuel injection valve. This fuel injection system is simple in the structure thereof, manufacturable at a low cost, has high responsibility in variation of fuel injection rate relative to variation of flow rate of air to be sucked and assures high metering accuracy of fuel to be injected.

A pressure regulator valve for use in fuel systems for internal combustion engines utilizing super-chargers for air supply which includes a three-part housing lamination with separate upper and lower diaphragms between the bottom and top housings and the intermediate housing. The lower diaphragm is responsive to fuel pressure and will open a valve to by-pass fuel to a fuel tank. The upper diaphragm is exposed to the pressure of super-charged air to resist the opening of the fuel by-pass valve. The effective areas of the upper and lower diaphragms is designed to have a ratio of about 4 to 1. An adjustable air by-pass valve is provided to adjust the air pressure acting on the upper diaphragm to permit ratio adjustment of the air pressure reaching the regulator to the fuel pressure reaching the engine, for example, a fuel injector leading to the engine.

A pressure regulator is provided for the fuel injection system of a spark ignition internal combustion engine. The regulator is designed to regulate the pressure at which fuel is delivered to the fuel injectors, this pressure being constantly referenced to a predetermined value for the purpose of maintaining the correct air/fuel mixture ratio for all conditions of use of the engine. In general terms, the regulator comprises an arrangement of various mechanical components which act to divide the flow of fuel delivered by a supply pump into two parts; one part of this flow is supplied to the injectors which take up the quantity required by the operating conditions of the engine, the remaining part being returned to the motor vehicle tank. To facilitate manufacture and assembly of the regulator, a particular form is given to the regulator valve element used to effect division of the fuel flow.

An air throttle valve and fuel valve are positively linked with the flow crossectional area of each valve proportional to that of the other. Fuel pressure drop across the fuel valve is regulated in precise proportion to the pressure drop across the upstream orifice of a two orifice in series air flow system which bypasses the air throttle. Careful shaping of the air throttle, the bypass system orifices, the fuel valve, passage geometry, and the servo valve fuel regulation system results in an accurate porportioning of fuel flow to air flow.

A fuel pressure regulator for use in a fuel injection system of a gasoline fueled engine, comprises a fuel distributor pipe having an inlet and a plurality of outlets connected to fuel injections, a casing secured to a portion of the fuel distributor pipe, a diaphragm member secured between the portion of the distributor pipe and the casing, and a fuel discharge nozzle disposed interiorly of the distributor pipe to discharge the fuel out of the distributor pipe, so that the possibility of fuel leakage in the piping of the fuel injection system is effectively decreased, rendering easier assembly of the fuel injection system and lowering the production cost of the same.

A fuel pressure-regulating valve for an electronic fuel injection system for internal combustion engines including a body member having an inlet port and an outlet port, a diaphragm dividing the interior of the body member into two chambers, a piston secured to the diaphragm and having a hollow stem with a fuel passageway therethrough, a valve responsive to the movement of the piston for controlling the communication between the inlet port and outlet port, and a bushing inserted securely in the hollow stem of the piston. Aligned apertures in the hollow stem and the bushing provide communication between the inlet port and the valve, the outer periphery of the bushing adjacent the apertures therein being flattened to provide gaps between the bushing and the hollow stem for preventing reduction of flow through the aligned aperture in case of slight misalignment of the apertures.

The push rod is exposed to both pressurized air and pressurized fuel which are isolated by a miniature bellows one end of which is connected to the push rod and the opposite end of which is secured to a fixed support or wall through which the push rod slidably extends. The relatively small size of the bellows permits a predetermined range of flexing with a minimum spring rate effect imposed on the push rod.
