Abstract: The invention relates to a door assembly (1) allowing a sealed transfer between two enclosed volumes, comprising a flange (2) arranged to delimit an opening in one of the enclosed volumes, and a door (4) that extends along an axis (C) and is hingedly fastened to/mounted on the flange (2) so as to move from a closed position in which the door (4) closes the passage opening (3), into an open position, characterized in that the door (4) is fastened to the flange (2) by a double-joint linkage mechanism (5) comprising a first joint (6) arranged to allow a rotational movement about an axis (A) perpendicularly to the axis (C) of the door by a maximum of 30 degrees in relation to the plane of the passage opening (3), and a second joint (7) arranged to allow a rotational movement about an axis (B) parallel to the axis (C) of the door.

Abstract: A gasket for sealing between the open end of a manway nozzle body of a containment vessel and an associated cover comprising a resilient annular ring member having a bail including a plurality of rigid arcuate inserts spaced about the bail that extends between radially inner and radially outer depending legs. The bail includes at least one annular upstanding chevron extending about an upper surface and at least one annular depending chevron extending about a lower surface. The inserts and bail have about the same thickness. A method includes compressing the gasket between the manway nozzle and cover, and the rigid inserts limit the compression of the gasket.

Abstract: A vacuum system for use in excavation operations. The system uses a tank having an open end that is closed by a door. The door is opened and closed by a door lifting assembly made up of an upper linkage arm, a lower linkage arm and a hydraulic cylinder. A socket is formed in the upper linkage arm, and a shaft housing is formed in the lower linkage arm. The shaft housing engages with the socket to latch the door closed. The upper linkage arm is attached to the door at a first pivot axis and is attached to the lower linkage arm at a second pivot axis. The lower linkage arm is attached to a side of the tank at a third pivot axis. When the door is open, the second pivot axis extends below a reference plane that contains the first and third pivot axis.

Abstract: A closure for a pressure vessel that includes a neck with a groove defined in the inner diameter, and a door assembly that pivots between opened and closed positions. The door assembly includes a door portion sized to be received in an opening of the neck, a guide plate connected to the door portion and rotatable between locked and unlocked positions, a first lock ring segment positioned radially outwardly of the guide plate and a handle. The guide plate includes a first cam path defined therein that receives a cam member of a first lug assembly that extends inwardly from the first lock ring segment. Rotation of the handle (and guide plate) from the unlocked to the locked position moves the first lock ring segment from a locked to an unlocked position. In the locked position, the first lock ring segment is received in the groove of the neck.

Abstract: A support structure for a fuel lid attached by a hinge to a vehicle body is provided with an annular rubber seal, which is provided on the vehicle body to surround an oil filler port in the vehicle body. The rubber seal has a top surface and an inner circumferential surface. The support structure includes a contact plate provided on a back surface of the fuel lid. The contact plate contacts the rubber seal when the fuel lid is in the closed state. The contact plate has an upper surface contact portion for contacting the upper surface of the rubber seal, and an inner-surface contact portion for contacting the inner circumferential surface of the rubber seal.

Abstract: A hatch latch mechanism for a railway hopper car having a longitudinally extending handle pivotally and slidingly linked to a hopper car roof which can be upwardly and rearwardly rotated to extend entrappingly across an outboard projection of a hatch cover holddown bar. The handle includes a bottom camming portion downwardly engageable with the outboard projection to compress the hatch cover gasket as the handle is rearwardly rotated to seal the hatch; thereafter, the handle is urged forward in slidingly upward engagement about the outboard projection of the holddown bar by the upward force of the compressed gasket against the hatch cover to insure automatic positive locking of the latch.
