    摘要: A flame forming burner for simultaneously minimizing excess air consumption while suppressing NO.sub.x emissions. A dual zone air register is provided to supply primary air in substoichiometric quantity into mixture with fuel to produce a flame in a primary zone. Additional air is introduced around the flame and downstream of the initial combustion site in a secondary zone, in sufficient quantity to complete combustion. In the preferred embodiment, primary air is provided through a venturi throat, and secondary air is provided through an annular passage equipped with vanes which generate dual counter-rotating (DCR) air flow surrounding the primary zone. Dampers for each register control the primary to secondary air ratio. Preferably, a divergent, non-circular throat provides flame shaping.

    摘要: Mechanical pressure exerted by a spring on the diaphragm of a pressure regulator is adjusted by an inclined cam surface on a linearly movable slide member.Flow of gases to a gas-fired torch is controlled by a valve which is operatively connected to an inclined cam surface on a linearly movable slide member.A gas-fired torch assembly has a housing, a tip base extending laterally of the housing and connected thereto for swivelling movement by a connector with male and female portions. A spring retainer clip on the exterior of the female portion extends through slots in the female portion and into a circumferential groove in the male portion. Upon separation of the connector elements, a safety cutoff valve closes the gas outlet of the housing.A burner tip base has a passage provided with a dust plug which prevents contaminants from entering the burner tip when it is detached from a torch assembly. In use, gas pressure moves the dust plug to a passage-opening position.

    摘要: In a lighter fueled by liquified gas there is less danger of injury or damage to property when the flame is visible. If the gas is mixed with a relatively large amount of air the flame, though stable in air currents, is blue and invisible or almost so, whereas if there is little or no air mixed with the gas the flame is a visible yellow but relatively unstable. In a lighter formed according to the invention a burner is formed with two concentric upright tubes the outer of which surrounds a gas nozzle from the gas reservoir and the inner of which is coaxial with the nozzle but located a little thereabove. Air admitting apertures are provided at the lower end of the outer tube. Gas from the nozzle through the central tube mixes with little or no air and gives a central yellow flame, whilst gas passing between the tubes mixes with the air to give a blue flame surrounding and protecting the yellow flame.

    摘要: A gas burner comprises an annular chamber surrounding the fuel and air inlet end of a throated nozzle, with a circular slit orifice opening from the chamber into the nozzle upstream of the throat, and a flame stabilizer at one end of the nozzle, fuel gas passing through the slit expanding to form a Coanda wall jet around the inlet peripheral converging wall of the nozzle and inducing a flow of air down the center of the nozzle, the radial pressure gradient created by the jet sheet following the converging wall of the nozzle to its throat bringing about a high degree of air entrainment, whereby stable combustion results, at a point determined by the flame stabilizer.
