Abstract: A method for automatic diagnosis of a mechanical system of a group of mechanical systems sharing mechanical characteristics includes obtaining data relating to a vibration. The vibration-related data is acquired by a portable communications device configured to communicate with a remote processor. The processor automatically diagnoses the mechanical system by applying a relationship to the obtained vibration-related data. The relationship is based on sets of vibration-related data previously obtained from the mechanical systems. Each set of vibration-related data relates to vibrations of a mechanical system. The relationship is further based on sets of operation data previously obtained for mechanical systems of the group. Each set of operation data indicates a previous state of operation of a mechanical system. Each of the previous states of operation is associated with at least one of the previously obtained sets of vibration-related data.

Abstract: A system and method for detecting the occurrence of a gunshot are provided. The method may include receiving acoustic signals at a microphone indicative of a magnitude of the acoustic signal at a plurality of discrete frequencies, converting the acoustic signals to a digital signal and then employing a Goertzel algorithm based digital signal filter on the digital signal to produce Goertzel magnitudes at the plurality of discrete frequencies. The method subsequently determines if a maximum value of the digital signal is higher than a predefined threshold value. If the threshold value is exceeded, the method predicts if the Goertzel magnitudes at the plurality of discrete frequencies are indicative of a gunshot sound via gradient boosting; and, transmits a signal indicative of a gunshot occurrence after predicting if a possible gunshot event has occurred. A debouncer may also be utilized to suppress duplicative signals.

Abstract: A method for processing audible sounds using ultrasonic sensors. The method includes passively monitoring, via ultrasonic sensors, an external environment for a audible sounds. An audible sound may be detected and used to produce a sound signal. The sound signal may be filtered to determine one or more features corresponding thereto, including a class, a position, and a velocity. A priority may be assigned to the sound signal based on the sound signal to determine an appropriate response. A corresponding system and computer program product are also disclosed and claimed herein.

Abstract: A sound-pressure analyzer in a high-intensity acoustic field that can accurately presume the cavitation-threshold and cavitation-amount being generated comprises: a hydrophone for transferring a voltage-signal corresponding to said sound-pressure in said acoustic field; a frequency-analyzer; and an arithmetic device. The frequency-analyzer analyzes the frequency-component in such an acoustic field based on the voltage-signal being transferred from the hydrophone and then sorts such signal into a basic-frequency component, a harmonic component, a sub-harmonic component and a white-noise component. An arithmetic device conducts arithmetic operations to evaluate the average of broadband sound pressure (ABP) of the white-noise component within a frequency-range having practical sensitivity, thus presuming the presence of the cavitation-threshold and the cavitation-amount being generated at a point wherein the ABP increases from about zero and wherein such cavitation-amount being generated is according to the level of the ABP value.
