    摘要: Applicant has disclosed a method and apparatus for teaching young students “how to tell time” on an analog clock. In a preferred “method” embodiment, Applicant's invention comprises: inserting a ruler with twelve hinged sections (each containing indicia representing five intervals) into a substantially straight recessed channel in a first base; sliding hour, minute and second hands, located in a parallel thinner recessed channel in the base, along the twelve sections to help the student conceptualize minutes, hours and seconds; removing the ruler from the first base; pivoting each hinged section until the ruler's ends meet, whereupon the ruler's outer edge substantially forms a circle; placing the substantially “circular” ruler into a correspondingly shaped recess in a second base; and rotating hour, minute and second hands, about a pin in the second base, and around the pivoted sections to help the student conceptualize how to tell time on an analog clock.

    摘要: Devices, systems and methods are provided which enhance the learning process by means of interactive exercises and games which involve drawing input from a user. In particular, the present invention provides an interactive print media apparatus which includes a specialized writing instrument and at least one sheet on which the user is to write with the writing instrument. The user receives visual or auditory messages and prompts from the apparatus which instructs the user to perform tasks on the sheet using the writing instrument. In some embodiments, the user is instructed to draw one or more stroke marks within prescribed locations on the sheet and the apparatus provides feedback in relation to such markings. In other embodiments, the user is instructed to draw one or more stroke marks within prescribed locations on the sheet and the apparatus correlates the markings to known characters, such as letters, numbers or symbols.

    摘要: A time teaching aid for teaching the concept of remaining time and elapsed time comprises a stationary face with a plurality of numerical indicia marks arranged around the face in a generally clockwise pattern, and successive indicia marks decreasing in value in a clockwise direction from a twelve-o'clock position. A rotating face rotates in the clockwise direction on the stationary face and exposes a portion thereof in front of the stationary face during rotation. A time hand rotates in synchronization with the rotating face and points to the numerical indicia marks on the stationary face. The rotating face exposes an ever decreasing portion thereof during clockwise rotation and the time hand progresses in a clockwise fashion from the twelve-o'clock position, through the numerical indicia marks, and back to the twelve-o'clock position, such that the ever-decreasing exposed portion corresponds to the time hand pointing to decreasing values of the numerical indicia whereby to simultaneously indicate to a viewer the decreasing time remaining both proportionately and numerically on the stationary face.

    摘要: An electronic analog calendar timepiece includes a mechanism for automatically correcting the date indication at the ends of months having less than 31 days. A second motor activates the month correction-mechanism in short months to advance the date dial by additional indicated days. Such irregular advancements occur in accordance with the condition of switches associated with the 29th, 30th, and 31st day positions of the date dial, and in accordance with data stored in memory to correlate with the displayed month of the year. A conventional driving mechanism associates with conventional time keeping circuitry to advance the hands and the day, date, and month indicators for all days occurring in the month. The month-end correcting mechanism is linked to the conventional driving mechanism by actuation of the second motor.
