    摘要: A novel organic light-emitting pixel structure provides improved contrast pixels suitable for use in high-contrast passive- and active-matrix displays. A dark, low-reflectance film is placed on a reflective or transparent substrate, which acts to absorb and/or trap ambient light impinging on the pixel and improving its contrast between on and off states. Optical scattering is reduced by fabricating a vertical wall around each pixel which effectively blocks out light emitted from adjacent pixels, and prevents the scattering of the pixel's own emitted light. Light is emitted through a transparent upper electrode, which allows the substrate to be non-transparent. An active-matrix display is thus built on a single silicon substrate, with the crystalline silicon transistors needed to drive the active-matrix fabricated alongside their respective pixels, and with the walls surrounding the pixels formed from the drive circuitry itself.

    摘要: A data side driving IC incorporates pull-up elements and pull-down elements to be applied with modulating voltages of +½VM and −½VM, respectively. A scanning side driving IC incorporates pull-up elements to be applied with a positive write voltage of +VW from a positive voltage supply circuit, and pull-down elements to be applied with a negative write voltage of −VW from a negative voltage supply circuit. Each data electrode is driven by a positive voltage of +½VM or a negative voltage of −½VM. Each scanning electrode is controlled so that it is applied with a positive write voltage of +VW or a negative write voltage of −VW or it assumes a ground potential or a floating potential. Since the data electrodes and the scanning electrodes can be driven with high symmetry of positive and negative polarities, the long-term reliability can be enhanced, while at the same time the peripheral circuitry can be simplified.

    摘要: Control circuitry for an array of light emitting devices includes a first column line connected to each light emitting device in a column of light emitting devices. First column circuitry includes a first current source and a second current source. The first current source is connected to the first column line. The second current source is connected to the first column line. When a first light emitting device from the column of light emitting devices is to be turned on, the first current source is turned on until a voltage on the first column line is equal to a predetermined voltage. Then the first current source is turned off and the second current source supplies current sufficient to cause the first light emitting device to emit light to a first brightness level.

    摘要: Display device designed to prevent surroundings from being adversely affected by noise includes an inner circuit board on which a support frame is mounted in a specific position. A liquid crystal panel is mounted on the support frame and held stationary by a frame. An EL panel for illuminating the liquid crystal panel is mounted behind the liquid crystal panel. An EL circuit board holding an EL driver circuit thereon is bonded to the bottom surface of the EL panel. A shielding plate is mounted on a top surface of the inner circuit board surrounded by the support frame, and is located opposite the EL panel. The shielding plate cuts off noise generated by the EL driver circuit. The EL panel is connected with electrodes on the EL circuit board via lead wires. An electrode on the EL circuit board and an electrode on the circuit board are connected via a contact member. Electric power and control signals are supplied via this contact member.
