摘要： A recording signal containing a main carrier modulated in accordance with picture signal information inclusive of synchronizing components, and an auxiliary carrier modulated in accordance with sound signal information and a pilot signal, is impressed on a video disc record along a spiral track on the surface thereof. The frequencies of the synchronizing components and the pilot signal are such that an integral number of synchronizing components and a non-integral number of pilot signal cycles occupy each convolution of the spiral track. The playback apparatus includes circuitry coupled to the output of a player stylus for recovering the pilot signal, and further includes circuitry responsive to the deviations in the phase of the recovered pilot signal for developing an error signal indicative of the magnitude and sense of a disruption in the regular progression of the stylus along the spiral track due to a sudden shift in the radial location of the stylus. A suitable track skipper mechanism is activated in response to the error signal to radially shift the stylus in a manner that offsets the disruption in the regular progression thereof.

摘要： In a signal pick-up apparatus for reproducing a recording disc, a pick-up cartridge casing is detachably loaded at a predetermined position on a pick-up apparatus structure. An arm is rotatably supported at one end thereof, within the casing. At its other end, the pick-up arm has a reproducing stylus which contacts the recording disc, an elastic member for supporting the pick-up arm with respect to said arm support member, and a member for urging the arm support member in a direction which accommodates the pick-up arm within said casing. The other end of the arm support member is depressed, within a direction for causing the reproducing stylus to contact the recording disc and further causing the elastic member to deform after a contact between of the reproducing stylus and the recording disc.

摘要： An improved method of manufacturing is provided for making an improved merged MR head. The method employs a photoresist mask with appropriately-sized openings for simultaneously etching numerous vias to various depths over a set time period. After formation of the vias, a single photoresist mask is employed to pattern in one step gap layers G3, G2, G1 and a first shield layer S1 to the desired lateral configuration for the merged MR head. Subsequent to patterning these thin film layers, double insulation layers I2 and I3 are individually soft baked on top of the coil structure of the head followed by patterning of the layers I2/I3 by a single photoresist mask. These layers are then hard baked to retain the desired smooth configuration of the layers. The improved merged MR head has a smooth configuration to its top pole piece P2 because of the smooth configuration of the I2/I3 layer so that flux leakage and saturation problems are minimized.

摘要： Arrangement for fastening a phonographs stylus holder to its tone arm. The arrangement has a plurality of pins affixed to the tone arm, and sleeves inserted in openings in the stylus holder. The sleeves are slipped onto the pins and have a frictional engagement therewith. The lower ends of the sleeves are provided with flanges which underlie opposite edge portions of the stylus holder. In one embodiment of the arrangement the passages through the sleeves are concentric with the external cylindrical surfaces of the sleeves, and in another embodiment the passages through the sleeves are eccentric with respect to the outer cylindrical surfaces of the sleeves whereby turning of the sleeves permits an angular adjustment of the stylus holder with respect to the tone arm. Indicium means may be provided on the sleeve to indicate the angular position of the sleeves relative to the stylus holder.
