摘要: A light-emitting diode (LED) (10) includes a chip body (103), an encapsulation can (105) surrounding the chip body, and a base (106) supporting the encapsulation can and the chip body thereon. Numerous fluorescent particles (1050) are provided in the encapsulation can. With the fluorescent particles, light beams from the chip body are diffused and attain wider irradiation angles. A backlight system (900) includes a light guide plate (20), and a number of the above-described LEDs disposed adjacent to the light guide plate. Light beams having wide irradiation angles are emitted from the LEDs and enter the light guide plate. This enables a light emitting surface of the light guide plate to have highly uniform brightness.

摘要: There is disclosed an image forming apparatus in which electric discharge by a peeled metal back film is prevented. In the image forming apparatus provided with a rear plate having an electron emitting device, and a face plate having a conductive film and a fluorescent layer having fluorescent particles, the conductive film is disposed on the fluorescent layer. When an average thickness of the fluorescent layer is set to d, an average particle diameter of the fluorescent particles is rp, and the thickness of the fluorescent film is D, D−rp≦d≦D+rp is satisfied.

摘要: A face plate (10) of an FED image display has a grooved rear surface (25) formed with projections (36). Projections (36) have surfaces (39) covered in regions (58, 59) with electrical conductive material (54) and different color emitting phosphor particles (56a, 56b). The regions (58, 59) define different color anode combs. Surfaces (39) in regions (61) between regions (58,59) are covered with insulative, light absorbing material (62) for absorption of ambient light. Surfaces (39) are formed to encourage forward direction of phosphor-emitted light. In one embodiment, surfaces (39) serve to channel ambient light rearwardly toward projection apexes (40) which are covered with light absorbing material (62). Projections (36) may be parallel elongated prisms, pyramids or cones.

摘要: A fiber optic phosphor screen is made of an optical fiber bundle having individual fibers arranged in parallel with opposite ends thereof extending between internal and external surfaces of the screen. The ends of the individual fibers at the internal surface of the screen have phosphor islands bonded only to the core portions in order to provide a pseudo-intagliated phosphor layer. A reflective layer is coated over the phosphor islands in between on the cladding portions of the fibers. A method for producing the fiber optic phosphor screen includes the steps of applying a phosphor-photoresist layer to the ends of the fibers at the internal surface of the screen, illuminating the opposite ends of the fibers such that only the portions of the phosphor-photoresist layer on the core portions of the fibers are developed and bonded thereto, and removing the undeveloped portions of the phosphor-photoresist layer to leave behind phosphor islands bonded to the core portions.

摘要: Inner specular reflection is suppressed in a flat faceplate for use in a color cathode ray tube (CRT) by forming a flat glass faceplate to have an aft, or inner surface characterized by an undefined roughness. By allowing for an aft surface of undefined roughness, a subsequent lapping process is utilized to produce a predetermined roughness of the aft surface that will substantially eliminate specular reflection from that surface.

摘要: The invention relates to luminescent screen comprising an optical fibre plate formed by the reunion of elementary optical fibres constituted by bars of core glass (10) enveloped by a cladding glass (12), the optical fibre plate being provided with cavities obtained after having hollowed out partially the core glass. The bottom of the cavities is covered by a deposit of a restoring material (30) which is transparent to the luminous flux, improving the surface state and the flatness of the bottom of the cavities and tending to minimize the break (32) at the intersection between the bottom and the wall of each cavity. The restoring material preferably has an optical index near that of the core glass in order to ensure the optical continuity. Said screen of high resolution and high luminous efficiency is used in display tubes such as night-vision tubes, X-ray converter tubes, slid scanning tubes, cathode ray tubes used in oscilloscopy or in television.
