    摘要: A switching power conversion apparatus for converting power from an input voltage source to a load includes first and second switches connected to a switching node. An inductive element has a magnetizing current connected to the node, and the inductive element is connected to deliver energy via the first and second switches from the input voltage to the load during a succession of power conversion cycles. A capacitance connected to the node resonates with the inductive element to cause parasitic oscillation. A clamp subcircuit across the inductive element contains an auxiliary switch to trap energy and prevent parasitic oscillation, wherein the auxiliary switch is complementary to the first switch. A controlled voltage source injects energy in the inductive element, when the auxiliary switch turns off to discharge the parasitic capacitance by using trapped energy in the inductive element in addition to injected energy from the controlled voltage source.

    摘要: A T-breaker is an all-in-one solution for dc microgrid fault protection, power flow control, and power quality improvement. A T-breaker features a modular multilevel “T” structure with integrated energy storage devices. The two horizontal arms of the T-breaker realize fault current breaking, load voltage compensation, and power flow control; and the vertical arm of the T-breaker realizes shunt compensation. The configuration provides excellent voltage scalability and relaxes the requirements on the switching signal synchronization during fault transients. The local energy storage in sub-modules eases the fault energy dissipation requirement placed on the traditionally-adopted surge arrestors. The modular multilevel structure also offers immense control flexibility for all types of targeted functions of the provided T-breaker.

    摘要: A low loss snubber circuit for protecting an electronic device within a power converter is provided. The low loss snubber circuit includes a bidirectional transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode having first and second nodes, wherein the first node of the bidirectional TVS diode is coupled to a first node of the electronic device, and a snubber capacitor having first and second nodes, wherein the first node is coupled to the second node of the bidirectional TVS diode and the second node is coupled to a second node of the electronic device. The low loss snubber circuit further includes a snubber diode having an anode and a cathode, wherein the anode is coupled to the second node of the bidirectional TVS diode and the cathode is coupled to a node of the power converter.
