This signal conversion is used by a triangle generator of the type employing an integrator, detector/control, and a switch so that triangular waveforms of any desired peak-to-peak magnitude and D.C. offset voltage level are produced independent of detector/control requirements.

A high-voltage-level Miller circuit is employed, with capacitive coupling between the input current source and the amplifying device, and between the output terminal of the amplifying device and the deflection plate being driven. The coupling capacitors and integrating capacitor lie in a feedback loop, which greatly reduces output waveform distortion introduced by these capacitors, permitting the use of much smaller capacitor values. A small grid current provides a low-frequency amplitude constraint which stabilizes the operating point and prevents oscillations which would normally result from the oscillatory phase-shift characteristic produced by the use of the smaller capacitors.

A ramp function generator is provided which produces a precise linear rampunction which is repeatable and highly stable. A derivative feedback loop is used to stabilize the output of an integrator in the forward loop and control the ramp rate. The ramp may be started from a selected baseline voltage level and the desired ramp rate is selected by applying an appropriate constant voltage to the input of the integrator.

An improved ramp generating circuit which is self-compensating for changes in component performance is disclosed. The circuit is designed to attain a reference voltage in a fixed number of counts as provided by a precision clock source. A single direction compensation feedback network is employed to increase the slope in increments until the desired peak level and clock count are attained simultaneously. Embodiments are shown wherein the circuit is employed in a gas discharge bar graph display driving circuit and as an analog-to-digital converter.
