    摘要: A cathode ray tube video display device is adapted to display wide aspect ratio signals by reducing the vertical scanning amplitude of the scanning raster. The scan is collapsed in the vertical direction without reducing the number of lines used to display the active picture, leaving unscanned bands at the top and bottom of the display. The device can change between a normal raster scanning mode and such a collapsed wide screen mode automatically in response to an indicator in the received video signal.

    摘要: A system for indicating the sweep rate of an oscilloscope time base. A counter is enabled by a sweep gate signal to permit clock pulses having a predetermined repetition rate to be counted during the time a sweep-driving ramp waveform is generated. The count output, which is proportional to the length of a time-base sweep, is decoded to generate specific control signals indicative of the sweep rate thereof. The control signals may then be used by a utilization means to provide a visual readout of the time-base sweep rate or to provide auto ranging for a digital voltmeter scaled in time units for time interval measurements.

A COMMON INPUT TRIGGER RECEIVING CIRCUIT NOT ONLY RECEIVES INPUT TRIGGERING SIGNALS, BUT ALSO FORMS A MULTIVIBRATOR WITH A SELECTED GATING CIRCUT. THIS MULTIVIBRATOR IS OPERATIVE FOR CAUSING THE SELECTED GATING CIRCUIT TO CLAMP ITS ASSICATED SWEEP GENERATOR IN A NONOPERATIVE CONDITION ONLY FOR THE DURATION OF AN OPERATING PERIOD OF THE MULTIVIBRATOR, CORRESPONDING TO THE HOLDOFF PERIOD DESIRED FOR THE SWEEP GENERATOR. IN THE MULTIVIBRATOR, THE SELECTED GATING CIRCUIT INCLUDES THE TIMING MEANS FOR DETERMINING A HOLDOFF TIMING PERIOD APPROPRIATE FOR THE ASSOCIATED SWEEP GENERATOR. AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE MULTIVIBRATOR''S OPERATING PERIOD, THE SELECTED GATING CIRCUIT CAUSES THE ASSOCIATED SWEEP GENERATOR TO INITIATE A SWEEP WAVEFORM. SELECTION OF A DESIRED SWEEP WAVEFORM AS WELL AS THE SELECTION OF AN APPROPRIATE HOLDOFF PERIOD MAY THUS BE ACCOMPLISHED BY MEANS OF SELECTING A PROPER GATING CIRCUIT.
