    摘要: The conversion circuit adapts a legacy radio to play digital broadcasts using a sensing circuit coupled to a control device of the legacy radio to produce a control device position signal. A processor detects changes in this position signal and interprets a pattern of predetermined changes in position signals to generate at least digital radio broadcast scan command. The conversion circuit also includes a digital radio receiver that performs a scan operation in response to the scan command and supplies the processor with a channel list of detected digital stations. The processor associates each of the detected digital stations to a different positional setting of the control device. The processor also interprets different positional settings of the control device as a content selection commands, which it uses to cause the receiver to select a particular content component for playback through an audio amplifier.

A vehicle-mounted field unit for collecting and transmitting such parameters to a base station is also disclosed. The system monitors and stores all events related to the occupants' interaction with the vehicle's radio, including automatic detection of the selected radio station through a speaker port. The stored data is then transmitted to a base station's central collection computer for immediate compilation and analysis. The system is capable of producing detailed reports containing error-free, unbiased, audience measurement statistics which can be made available to subscribers such as broadcasters, corporate advertisers, advertising agencies and the like.

    摘要: A system and method allow for the periodic re-configuring of broadcast receivers to control their storage of responses to interactive applications during a polling period. A broadcast server maintains a database of interactive applications each preferably associated with a program that will be broadcast. When the program is broadcast, an interactive application is inserted into the broadcast feed and delivered to a broadcast receiver such as a television set-top box. The broadcast receiver includes a processor, memory, and other hardware necessary to execute the interactive application. When executed, the interactive application generates a response which is transmitted to a local data center at, for example, the cable head-end. Generated responses have specific types. To manage the number and capacity of the system to receive responses, priority values are assigned to responses of different types. The priority values are based on the value of the responses to the provider of the interactive application, and established with respect to total response capacity, and an estimated response volume during a polling period. These priority values are assigned or updated preferably once each polling period, and transmitted to and stored in the broadcast receivers. Each broadcast receiver uses the priority value assignments to determine if it will execute and store responses for a currently received interactive application, or reserve memory capacity for higher priority responses.
