Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to a system, method and apparatus for the indirect electromagnetic irradiation of liquid and gaseous mediums. More specifically, this disclosure relates to a method of using a high intensity ultraviolet emitting light source that enables a high flux of selected wavelengths of far ultraviolet electromagnetic radiation to impinge on a chosen medium while simultaneously reducing or preventing exposure of said medium to undesirable heat (infrared) and other visible and near ultraviolet wavelengths. More specifically, this disclosure relates to a system and method of employing an apparatus with one or more parabolic reflectors, mirrors and/or other light focusing, filtering and redirecting means to expose a medium flowing within a UV transmitting medium transport tube to a desired wavelength or range of desired wavelengths of far ultraviolet electromagnetic radiation for the purpose of irradiating a chosen liquid and/or gaseous medium.

Abstract: The present invention is disclosed an array-type-transducer-based high-power ultrasound delivery system which includes a support bracket, an array-type ultrasound transducer, and a plurality of containers. The support bracket includes a plurality of grooves, and the array-type ultrasound transducer includes a clamp and N ultrasound transducers. The clamp includes a plurality of wedges configured for engaging in the grooves of the support bracket and thereby connecting the array-type ultrasound transducer to the support bracket. The containers are arranged in a two-dimensional matrix so that the ultrasound transducers of the array-type ultrasound transducer can dip into and leave the ultrasound-conducting medium in the containers vertically. The disclosed system features high operation speed and low labor requirement. Moreover, the depth by which and the time for which the ultrasound transducers dip into the ultrasound-conducting medium in the containers can be controlled and quantified.

Abstract: A utensil for containing foodstuffs, applicable to cooking in a microwave oven, including a receptacle made of an elastomer material with an access opening and a cover for covering the access opening. The receptacle is formed by one or more walls including a bottom wall in elongated channel shape and opening edges defining the access opening at a height greater than the bottom. The bottom wall includes reinforcing ribs projecting outwardly from an outer surface thereof and providing supports leaving most of the outer surface of the bottom wall exposed to the surrounding atmosphere when the receptacle is on a support surface. The bottom wall is connected at its ends to end walls determining respective end opening edges configured to support lids.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for the continuous sterilization of a non-packaged biological liquid, particularly milk and its byproducts, containing bacterial and sporal loads, including the steps of a) gradually preheating the liquid to a preheating temperature proximate to a maximum temperature of the process; b) irradiating the liquid with an electromagnetic field with a frequency of less than 1 GHz so as to heat the product to the maximum temperature of the process; and c) rapidly cooling the liquid to a temperature of approximately 15.degree. before packaging. The preheating temperature attained during the preheating step a) is between 90.degree. C. and 140.degree. C. and the maximum temperature reached during the irradiation step b) is about 165.degree. C. with a thermal gradient between about 0.1.degree. C./s and 10.degree. C./s, so as to provide a high temperature heating of the liquid while preventing destruction or alteration of the active principles and organoleptic properties of the liquid.
