    摘要: A furnace system features a combination of a furnace, a main combustion furnace tube and a disposable guard tube. The main combustion furnace tube is configured to couple and extend from the furnace, made of a quartz tube material, and has a zone for a combustion catalyst or high temperature support configured or formed therein. The disposable guard tube is coupled to the main combustion furnace tube, has a top opening configured to receive and have direct exposure to a liquid sample being injected into the main combustion furnace tube, and also has a bottom opening to provide the liquid sample to the main combustion furnace tube for processing in the zone for the combustion catalyst or high temperature support.

    摘要: A detection device for molten metal is provided. The detection device includes a sample cup having a cavity configured to receive a sample of molten metal and a blob arranged in the cavity. The blob includes a carbide stabilizing element and a hydrogen releasing material including a hydroxide of an alkaline earth metal. The blob is provided for use in detecting phase change temperatures during solidification of a sample of molten cast iron. The blob is also resistant to moisture gain and moisture loss during transport and storage. A method of detecting phase change temperatures of the molten iron or molten cast iron sample using the blob and a method of manufacturing the blob are also provided.

    摘要: A batch carbonation apparatus includes a housing defining a vessel cavity. The housing includes an agitation mechanism. The pressure vessel includes a cap that has a CO2 inlet and a CO2 outlet is provided. The pressure vessel also includes a seal. The pressure vessel is moveable into an out of the vessel cavity. A locking mechanism is provided and is attached to the agitation mechanism to removably lock the cap and seal relative to the pressure vessel. A CO2 source is connected to a plurality of valves where each valve has a differing pressure. A selection toggle is attached to the housing. A control mechanism is coupled to the plurality of valves. A user selects a desired carbonation level using the selection toggle and CO2 is introduced to the pressure vessel at a specified pressure wherein the agitation mechanism agitates liquid within the pressure vessel forming a carbonated beverage having a selected carbonation level. Also disclosed is a process of forming a carbonated beverage in a batch.

    摘要: A pyrolytic boron nitride crucible is disclosed which is suitable for producing a single crystal of a semiconductor compound of Group III and V by the LEC method. The crucible comprises a side part and a bottom part. The bottom part has an absorption coefficient of light of wavelengths between 3,700 cm.sup.-1 and 6,500 cm.sup.-1 of at most 1.7 and/or the absorption coefficient of light of wavelengths between 3,700 cm.sup.-1 to 6,500 cm.sup.-1 of the bottom part is less than that of the side part by at least 0.5. In the crucible, the heat conduction from the bottom part to material melt in the crucible is strengthened, so that the convection flow of the material melt is suppressed and the temperature distribution in the crucible can be easily controlled.

    摘要: An instrument and system for the preparation of a sample for analysis provides a crucible holder which improves the holding and control of a melting crucible during operation of the device for agitating a powdered sample and flux while being heated. The crucible holder is coupled to an agitation assembly which provides independently controlled operation on two different axes using separately adjustable variable frequency and amplitude motion along each of the two operating axes to provide an finite number of agitation patterns for the crucible. In one preferred embodiment of the invention, the heating flame is controlled by controlling the supply of compressed air and a combustion gas. In another preferred embodiment of the invention, a pilot burner is provided which both ignites the main burner located under the crucible and preheats the casting dish to a temperature which is substantially the same as the crucible. The pilot also can control air only flow directed to the casting dish for controllably cooling the sample melt to form the sample bead.
