摘要: Novel organoselenium selective ligands are presented and designed to determine metal ions in a sample. These ligands are used as complexing agents in a dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction procedure of copper and zinc ions. The procedure has a shortened extraction time, minimal organic solvent types, and lower amounts of solvents, as well as easy operation and high enrichment efficiency.

摘要: The invention teaches a method proposing two new indices for evaluating thermal evolution in oils from different basins and organofacies. The first index is based on the distribution ratio of high molecular weight sulfur compounds, belonging to the DBE 6 (benzothiophene) and DBE 9 (dibenzothiophene) series. The second index, called TEI, was created from the profile of aromatic hydrocarbons and molecules containing N, O and S. Both parameters were obtained from the direct characterization of the oils, by using the photoionization at atmospheric pressure (APPI) technique combined with Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR MS).

摘要: The invention proposes preparing biological samples for spectrometry which contain cell structures and/or whole cells of human or animal origin (e.g. thin human and animal tissue sections) or prokaryotes (e.g. microorganisms), and which require constant relative humidity, in a temperature-controlled gas volume whose humidity is determined by a saturated substance solution, for example a suitable salt solution. The invention exploits a physico-chemical phenomenon called “deliquescence”, which manifests itself by keeping the relative humidity above the saturated substance solution constant with a high degree of precision when a specified temperature is maintained. Pure succinic acid exhibits deliquescence at approx. 99% relative humidity, for example. Since an enormous variety of deliquescent salts and other suitable substances are available, it is possible to find the suitable substance for almost any desired relative humidity, with adjustment of the temperature, where necessary.

摘要: A method for differentially lysing a liquid sample or target material using an augmented oxidizing agent (AOA), which includes a quantity of electronically modified oxygen derivatives (EMODs). The method reduces or eliminates total dissolved solids (IDS), total suspended solids (TSS), Biologic Oxygen Demand (BOD), microbial concentration, biofilms and other content in the liquid target material known or suspected to contain animal fluids, blood and blood cells and suspected or known to contain eukaryotic cells, microbial cells, bacteria, viruses, spores, fungi, prions, organic matter, minerals, proteins or associated structures. The BOD, TDS and TSS can be lowered or eliminated as desired. This action is directly proportional to the quantity of EMODs in the AOS applied to the liquid target material.

摘要: A collector device for determining a metal in an exploration sample containing a concentration of the metal not directly detectable by X-ray fluorescence (XRF), comprises an adsorbent material capable of concentrating metal from a digestion mixture produced by digesting the exploration sample, which is configured for association with an analysis window of the XRF detector to facilitate determination of the amount of metal value in the exploration sample. A sample preparation vessel, method and system used to prepare exploration samples for analysis includes a vessel for receiving the exploration sample, a digestion tablet and a digestion medium; a closure to allow the vessel to be agitated to produce a digestion mixture comprising dissolved metal and the collector device. The closure and the collector device are coupled so that collector device is retrieved from the vessel by removing the closure. The digestion tablet includes a metal lixiviate and an alkali compound.

The sample input, the first chamber and the second chamber are fluidly coupled to one another in a series and the third chamber is fluidly coupled to the third chamber outside of the series so as to sequentially direct a sample received by the sample input through the first chamber to the second chamber and out of the second chamber and so as to direct the sensor preparation solution into the second chamber following discharge of the sample out of the second chamber.

A solid denuding surface that is connected to a drive system can be configured to move the solid denuding surface within the duct while the solid denuding surface is continuously concentrating one or more gas-phase species from the denuding gas flow on the denuding surface. The denuding surface can be moved while continuing to concentrate the one or more gas phase species from the denuding gas flow onto the denuding surface.

The LPM may include a non-ionic surfactant; a zwitterionic surfactant; and an abrasive material. The kit may include instructions. The instructions may direct a user to treat a tissue of a living subject by: applying the LPM together with the abrasive material to the tissue of the living subject; and transmitting energy to the tissue of the living subject through the abrasive material in the presence of the LPM effective to cause at least partial dissolution of one or more components of the tissue of the living subject.
