摘要： A font cartridge which can be attached to and detached from a printer and has an ROM to store the character font pattern corresponding to the type style to be output in accordance with a print request from the printer. The ROM stores the print correction information corresponding to the character font pattern according to a predetermined type style which is read out of the ROM in response to the print request from the printer. The ROM also stores the storage management address information of the print correction information corresponding to the character font pattern. With this font cartridge, a high quality print character subjected to the print correction peculiar to each type style can be output for every type style.

摘要： A printer of the automatic type wheel exchanging type comprises a long platen to support a print sheet and a carriage guided so as to be reciprocated along the platen. This carriage includes: a wheel motor for detachably coupling the daisy type wheel having types in the peripheral portions of a number of radially projected spokes and for rotating this wheel; a print hammer for pressing the type of the type wheel coupled with the drive shaft of the wheel motor onto the print sheet; an enclosing box which can enclose a plurality of such type wheels; and a type wheel exchanging device for exchanging the type wheel coupled with the wheel motor for another type wheel in the enclosing box, and for coupling this wheel with the wheel motor. The enclosing box is movable in the direction almost perpendicular to the moving direction of the carriage so as to select a desired one of the type wheels in the enclosing box. The type wheel at the detachable position and the type wheels in the enclosing box overlap each other. With this small-sized, light-weight, and simple type wheel exchanging constitution, the type wheel can be efficiently and promptly exchanged and various kinds of characters can be printed at a high speed.

摘要： An automatic typefont loader is sequenced to change the printwheel typefont of a printer. An elongated rack supports plural picker holders along its length and is normally located beneath the platen of the printer. Typefonts to be exchanged are held by the picker holders. During an exchanging sequence, the typefont carrier which is positioned along the platen to effect printing at discrete printing positions is positioned to a discrete printing position adjacent an empty picker holder for a typefont unloading operation. The elongated rack is then elevated so that the empty picker holder contacts the typefont. The typefont is removed from its carrier by moving the typefont carrier perpendicular to its normal motion. The picker holder rack is then withdrawn and the now empty typefont carrier is positioned to a second discrete printing position adjacent a selected typefont located on a picker holder. The picker holder rack is elevated and the typefont carrier moves toward the selected picker holder to retrieve a typefont. The operation is completed with the withdrawal of the rack to its normal position beneath the platen.

摘要： An automatic printer assembly capable of printing a large number of characters from a plurality of replaceable printing members and valuable in printing characters in a foreign language, such as Japanese Kanji, and the like. The printing member support carriage can align with a storage device, such as a carousel holder, to exchange printing members. A character memory storage receives an appropriately coded signal indicating a predetermined amount and location of characters that are to be printed on a predetermined area of a medium. A controller addresses the memory storage to select the appropriate character printing member. The input character information can be appropriately coded to minimize the scan time of the printing members by a sequential selecting of the printing members based on the respective character use of each printing member. The controller controls the position of the paper, the carriage, and the striking of a hammer so that the characters on the printing member are coordinately printed as a first group across the predetermined area of the medium. The controller can then sequentially activate the exchange device to replace the first character member with a second character printing member for rescanning the same predetermined area of the medium to interpolate the printing of a second group of characters. Subsequent printing members can be utilized in a similar fashion until all the stored characters are printed out.

摘要： A typewriter comprising a shiftable carrier supporting a rotatable type drum having a plurality of circumferentially extending rows of type characters thereon. Typing keys, when depressed, condition actuators and cause engagement of a power driven cyclic action clutch which drives a power bail to operate a conditioned actuator to rotate the type drum from any position it may be in to a new position to align a type character corresponding to the key depressed with the printing point. Certain of the keys, when depressed, position stops to limit axial movement of the type drum by the action clutch to align an appropriate one of the rows of type characters with the printing point. The action clutch also actuates a centralizer to accurately align the type drum prior to printing and, in addition, causes printing. A cyclic carrier shift clutch is engageable by the action clutch and by certain carrier shift control keys.

摘要： Type font changing in a teleprinter having a type font supporting carriage which positions the font unit along a writing line is facilitated by employing carriage movement in one direction to remove the presently installed type font unit from its character selection driving member and place it in a storage receptacle, and carriage movement in the opposite direction to retrieve a different font unit from a stored position and install it on the driving member. Manual and electrical controls are provided. Font units can be changed automatically in response to a single coded signal defining the desired font unit. Automatic tabular position memory is provided to record the carriage position at the time of initiation of font unit change so that after font unit removal and change the carriage can be automatically returned to the original position along the writing line and printing resumed.
