Abstract: In multiple embodiments, the avian impact mitigation system may generally include a pliable mesh that is disposed vertically in front of a window by attaching to a building and hanging down from the attachment points. In some embodiments, the system also includes one or more weighted masses that are attached to a bottom portion of the pliable mesh via one or more deformable members. In many embodiments, the combination of the one or more weighted masses attached to the pliable mesh by the one or more deformable members allows for a gentle and gradual transference of the bird's kinetic energy to the one or more weighted masses by absorbing and dispersing the kinetic energy to decelerate the bird safely and rebound the bird away from the window without making contact with the window.

Abstract: A reduced, visibility window/door screen includes a particularly formed narrow profile frame and mesh applied to the frame. The frame is formed from a single elongated member that is bent to form four corners and four corresponding sides, with joining of the adjacent first and second ends. A high-strength adhesive bonds the mesh to the frame, which is pinch rolled thereon for exceptional pull-out strength. Another embodiment includes a leaf spring movably secured to the frame, to bias and center the screen within the master frame. Another embodiment further includes a plunger pin slidably disposed in the frame with one end fixedly secured to the leaf spring, and handle movably connected to the other end of the plunger pin. The handle member being movable between first and second positions to respectively actuate the leaf spring between an undeformed condition, and a deformed, flattened condition permitting installation/removal of the screen.

Abstract: There is provided a security screen system. The system may include a mesh/infill and a frame including a plurality of frame assemblies surrounding the mesh/infill. At least one of the frame assemblies may include: an outer sash including a first sidewall and a second sidewall defining a channel therebetween, each sidewall including a first engagement feature; an inner sash received in the outer sash, the inner sash including a first leg and a second leg for engagement with the first and second sidewall, respectively, each leg including a second engagement feature for engagement with the first engagement feature of a sidewall to facilitate retention of the inner sash within the channel; and an insulator received, at least in part, in the inner sash, and engaging an end of the mesh/infill in the insulator. There are also provided methods of assembling a security screen system.

Abstract: A fenestration assembly includes a sash, a frame surrounding the sash, and at least one screen assembly mounted in at least one of: the top portion and the bottom portion. The frame includes a top portion, a bottom portion, and two jambs forming first slots extending lengthwise along at least a portion of the jamb. The first slots each include a screen edge retention feature. The screen assembly includes a roller assembly substantially hidden from view, a screen material attached to the roller assembly, and a plurality of raised features. Edges of the screen material extend into the first slots. The raised features are attached to each of the edges of the screen material. The raised features are configured to engage the screen edge retention features and retain each of the edges of the screen material at least partially within the first slot of each of the two jambs.

Abstract: A fenestration system includes one or more of a light modulation controller or ventilation modulation controller. The light modulation controller is in communication with at least one light modulation element of a fenestration assembly having a frame and a panel. The light modulation controller includes a light prescription module configured to provide a specified light prescription for the building interior. A lighting difference module is configured to determine a prescription difference between the specified light prescription and ambient light. A dynamic light module of the light modulation controller operates the at least one light modulation element according to the prescription difference. The ventilation modulation controller is in communication with at least one operator configured to open and close the panel. A ventilation prescription module provides a specified ventilation prescription for the building interior, and a dynamic ventilation module implements panel closing and opening according to the specified ventilation prescription.

Abstract: Zippered curved screen flap access panels, systems, arrangements, kits and methods for making a zippered curved screen flap panels in order to access space on another side of a screen enclosure. In a preferred embodiment, the novel curved screen flap can be formed in a screen panel, where the panel is installed in an upper location of a screen cage such as in a roof section or upper wall section below or adjacent to a roof gutter. The panel can be easily unzipped with the flap hanging down so that the gutter can be easily accessed and cleaned through the access opening. After the gutter is cleaned, the flap can easily be zippered back in place with the screen material being retensioned.

Abstract: A magnetically attachable window screen for attachment to a window frame. The window screen includes a plurality of screen frame members. Each frame member includes a first end and a second end wherein the first and second ends are operable to receive a flange member. The window screen also includes a screen corner key with a central magnetic member and two orthogonally opposed flanges extending outwardly in a single plane from the central magnetic member. The flange members of the screen corner key are inserted into the first and second ends of orthogonally opposed adjacent screen frame members to form a fully assembled screen frame. The window screen also includes a plurality of corner key mates inserted into each corner of the screen channel of the window frame. The central magnetic member of the inserted corner key is operable for magnetic attraction to respective corner key mates.
