One or more hooks are pivotably attached to the spear body at the downhole end, wherein the spear is movable between a retracted state, where the one or more hooks are arranged within the inner flowpath, and an extended state, where the spear body extends out of the inner flowpath at the lower end and the one or more hooks exiting the inner flowpath, and the one or more hooks pivot radially outward and away from the spear body upon exiting the inner flowpath.

    摘要: Provided is a method and apparatus for pulling a crown plug from a subsea horizontal christmas tree, the method comprising: (a) providing a subsea lubricator having a longitudinal through bore and a jack attached to the subsea lubricator, the jack having a landing area, and the landing area having an opening which is fluidly connected to the lubricator's through bore; (b) providing a jacking string which includes a landing sub and a crown plug connector, the sub having a landing surface; (c) without the jacking string in step “b”, lowering the subsea lubricator of step “a”, to the horizontal christmas tree and attaching the lubricator to the christmas tree; (d) lowering the jacking string to the lubricator, and, while the landing surface of the landing sub is spaced above and not supported by the landing area of the jack, connecting the plug connector to the crown plug while the landing sub is above and not touching the landing area of the jack; (e) jacking up the jack such that the landing area of the jack contacts the landing surface of the landing sub, and pushes up on the jacking sub and jacking string causing tensile forces to be placed on the crown plug and releasing the crown plug from the profile of the christmas tree; (f) while the lubricator remains attached to the christmas tree, raising the jacking string and crown plug through and out of the lubricator and to the surface of the water to remove the tree; and (g) detaching the crown plug from the crown plug connector.

The hoisting device has a self-energizing gripping means configured to releasably engage a drill string component. In one aspect, the self-energizing gripping means can be operable to increase at least one of a radial biasing force and a contact friction force applied to a drill string component, causing the gripping means to increase the overall gripping force applied to the component with minimal effort exerted by a hoisting device operator.

    摘要: An overshot (10, 100, 200) for handling equipment (12) defining a spearhead point (14). The overshot (10, 100, 200) includes: a substantially elongated overshot body (16); a pair of lifting dogs (18) pivotally mounted to the overshot body (16) so as to be movable between a dog closed configuration and a dog open configuration; and a dog control element (26) operatively coupled to the lifting dogs (18) for selectively controlling the movement of the lifting dogs (18) between the dog closed and open configurations, the dog control element (26) being operable between an armed configuration, a locked configuration and a released configuration. In the armed configuration, the lifting dogs (18) are movable between the dog closed and open configurations for allowing insertion of the spearhead point (14) therebetween; in the locked configuration, the lifting dogs (18) are locked in the dog closed configuration; and in the released configuration, the lifting dogs (18) are positioned in the dog open configuration.

    摘要: A grapple for use in an overshot has a tension ring with a reduced helix diameter. However, the helix diameter is not reduced on either sides of the control finger slot to allow the grapple to remain in contact with the control. In the alternative, a composite helix member may be utilized. Another embodiment comprises the inclusion of expansion blades on the inner diameter (“ID”) of the tension ring which allow the grapple to expand substantially before the fish reaches the segments. Another embodiment provides for a control with an offset finger to allow the guide thread ID to be smaller than the bowl helix major ID. Yet another embodiment provides a spiral grapple having grooves along its axis to provide the ability to catch a larger range of fish.
