    摘要: A sound deflecting muffler for deflecting and absorbing sound waves associated with exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine includes a casing having a muffler body defining an interior area and defining an inlet opening operatively connected to the internal combustion engine for receiving exhaust gases into the interior area and defining an outlet opening in communication with the interior area for directing the exhaust gases downstream from the interior area. The casing includes a pair of sound baffles that define a flow path for the exhaust gases flowing between the inlet and outlet of the muffler body, each sound baffle being perforated and having an arcuate configuration such that the flow path narrows at a midpoint. A first sound deflector is positioned in the flow path proximate the inlet end so as to deflect a portion of the exhaust gases toward the pair of sound baffles.

    摘要: A muffler shell (1) for use in an exhaust system of a vehicle comprises an inner metal sheet (13) and an outer metal sheet (10). The outer metal sheet (10) is arranged to enclose the inner metal sheet (13). The muffler shell further comprises a vibro-acoustical dampening material (14) sandwiched between the inner metal sheet (13) and the outer metal sheet (10). Both the inner metal sheet (13) and the outer metal sheet (10) are corrugated sheets made of stainless steel having a thickness in the range of 0.15 mm to 0.30 mm. The vibro-acoustical dampening material has a thickness (T) in the range of 4 mm to 8 mm and a density in the range of 130 kg/m3 to 160 kg/m3.

The two intermediate panels (20, 21) are supported on the insulating shell (29), each with an outer panel edge (30, 31). The insulating shell (29) is supported radially on the jacket (16) with a shell edge (33). An insulating gap (35) is formed radially between the jacket and the insulating shell.

    摘要: A muffler for mounting to a handheld pneumatic tool, such as a die grinder. The muffler comprises a hollow open-ended casing having an inner wall lined with a thick layer of an insulating material. The muffler is sleeve mounted about a coupler positioned between an exhaust end of the pneumatic tool and an air adapter supplying compressed air to the pneumatic tool for operation thereof. A plate comprising a plurality of perforations is positioned at a first face of the casing adjacent the air adapter. A biasing member is further placed between the plate and the air adapter for biasing a second face of the casing against the exhaust end. In this manner, during operation of the pneumatic tool, released air expelled at the exhaust end is directed through the casing to reduce a level of the noise at the exhaust end.
