摘要: A joint assembly for use in a motor vehicle. The joint assembly includes a first joint member that is drivingly connected to a second joint member via one or more third joint members. At least a portion of the first joint member is drivingly connected to at least a portion of a first shaft and at least a portion of the second joint member is drivingly connected to at least a portion of a second shaft. One or more first joint member tool grooves circumferentially extends along the outer surface of the first joint member. The joint assembly further includes a nut that drivingly connects at least a portion of a third shaft to at least a portion of the second shaft. The nut includes one or more nut tool grooves circumferentially extending along the outer surface of the nut.

摘要: A joint assembly includes a first member having splines formed therein. A second member includes splines formed thereon and is coupled to the first member. The splines of the first member engage the splines of the second member. An access window is formed on the first member. A ring retains the first member to the second member. A seal extends across a joint between the first member and the second member and covers the access window. A portion of the ring is accessible through the access window following removal of the seal, where the ring can be manipulated to release the first member from the second member.

摘要: A propeller shaft for a vehicle in which a tube yoke is connected to a main tube via an adapter and tapered splines are formed at the contact regions between a tube yoke and the main tube to transmit the power output from a transmission to a rear wheel. The tube yoke and the main tube are displaced relative to each other at the tapered splines to break the adapter. The tube yoke and the main tube are thus separated from each other by virtue of the breakage of the adapter.

摘要: A shaft coupling includes a first shaft supported by a bearing at a first end, and a second shaft supported by a bearing at a second end. The first shaft and second shaft are coaxially arranged so that the second end of the first shaft is against the first end of the second shaft. On an end surface of the second end of the first shaft, there is a recess, and a protrusion protrudes from the end surface of the first end of the second shaft, and the recess receives the protrusion. The shaft coupling includes only one third bearing, as well as a coupler which receives the second end of the first shaft and the first end of the second shaft. With such a solution, a greater radial error may be allowed between the shafts without the structures of the coupling point being overloaded.

摘要: A constant velocity ball joint uses a star shaped sleeve with a splined connection to its shaft. The sleeve is longitudinally retained on its shaft using a retaining ring in an outwardly facing groove of the shaft. The star shaped sleeve has a 30° assembly assist chamfer angle on one side, as well as a 45° transition chamfer angle and a 65° ramp chamfer angle facing the opposite direction. These angles control the diameter of the retaining ring as it is compressed inward into the groove during assembly and disassembly. The star shaped sleeve can be used in a dynamic length CV joint, with the splines of a configuration that allows longitudinal sliding of the sleeve on the shaft, so the shell of the dynamic length CV joint still can be of the spherical race type.

The shear component forms a crash feature of the propeller shaft assembly configured to shear at an edge of the second engaging surface when the first shear component is compressed between the first engaging surface and the second engaging surface.
