    摘要: A stem controlled valve uses a stack which includes a plurality of spacing discs and a plurality of sealing discs, where the spacing discs are interdigitated between the sealing discs, or uses a monolithic plug or inner wall of a valve seat with spaced apart extension areas. The sealing discs or extension areas are slightly larger in diameter than a valve seat they fit within or plug wall they fit against such that they elastically deform against the inner wall of the valve seat or the outer wall of the plug. For sealing in cryogenic applications, at least the outer portions of the sealing discs, or the extension areas in the case of a monolithic plug and inner seat wall are pre-stressed to generate void spaces that govern deformation and cryogenic pliability of the single or groups of sealing discs.

    摘要: A downstream ball valve purging inlet directs purging fluid intentionally onto a downstream portion of the valve ball. The Coanda effect attaches some of the fluid to the ball's surface, so that it flows around the ball to an opposite side thereof, thereby purging the downstream valve cavity more efficiently than designs that avoid impacting the ball and depend on mixing to distribute the purging fluid onto the ball. The purging inlet can be downstream of the ball and directed at an acute angle, proximate the ball and directed perpendicular to the outlet axis, or some combination thereof. A central cavity purging drain can be connected with the purging inlet, so that the same fluid purges both the valve interior and the downstream cavity. Embodiments include a plurality of downstream purging inlets, which can have equal purging angles and can be equally spaced about the outlet axes.

    摘要: Technologies are generally described for valve assemblies that include a valve body whose inner wall defines two ports and a controllable flow path that extends along the inner wall between the two ports of the valve body. Each port may be fitted with a corresponding gasket. A rotatable member disposed in the controllable flow path of the valve body may include a hemispherical-shaped body with a substantially flat disk-shaped surface portion, and a seal ridge formed about a perimeter of the substantially flat disk-shaped surface portion. During opening and closing operation, the seal ridge may be selectively engaged with either one of the gaskets reducing an initial contact surface, and thereby reducing friction between the rotatable member and the gaskets.
