    摘要: A SEPIC converter with over-voltage protection includes a high-side inductor that connects a node Vw to a node Vx. The node Vx is connected, in turn to ground by a power MOSFET. The node Vx is also connected to a node Vy by a first capacitor. The node Vy is connected to ground by a low-side inductor. A rectifier diode further connects the node Vy and a node Vout and an output capacitor is connected between the node Vout and ground. A PWM control circuit is connected to drive the power MOSFET. An over-voltage protection MOSFET connects an input supply to the PWM control circuit and the node Vw. A comparator monitors the voltage of the input supply. If that voltage exceeds a predetermined value Vref the comparator output causes the over-voltage protection MOSFET to disconnect the node Vw and the PWM control circuit from the input supply.

While the first switch is closed, the SEPIC portion is configured to store energy from an energy source in at least some of the first set of passive components and deliver energy to the BUCK portion, and the BUCK converter portion is configured to deliver energy to a load and to store energy in at least some of the second set of passive components. While the first switch is open, the SEPIC portion is configured to deliver at least some of its stored energy to the load, and the BUCK converter portion is configured to deliver at least some of its stored energy to the load.

    摘要: One embodiment of the invention includes a power regulator system. The system comprises an error amplifier that provides an error voltage based on a comparison of a reference voltage and a feedback voltage associated with an output voltage of the power regulator system. The system also comprises a pulse-width modulation (PWM) comparator configured to generate a switching signal that controls activation and deactivation of at least one power switch. The PWM comparator defining a duty-cycle of the switching signal based on the error voltage. The system further comprises a current limit circuit configured to clamp the error voltage upon the error voltage exceeding a voltage limit having a magnitude that varies as a function of the duty-cycle to provide a predetermined current limit that is substantially fixed independent of the duty-cycle.

    摘要: A method of feedback controls a switched regulator generating a regulated voltage on an output terminal and being driven by a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal that determines on-phases during which the output terminal is selectively connected to a supply line, and off-phases during which the output terminal is disconnected according to a pulse skipping mode. The method may include comparing the regulated voltage with a reference voltage, and during the on-phase of the PWM signal, selectively connecting or disconnecting the supply line to the output terminal based upon the comparing for keeping the regulated voltage constant. The method may also include incrementing, decrementing, or leaving unchanged a duty-cycle of the PWM signal at every PWM cycle also based upon the comparing.
