    摘要: The present invention provides an image data conversion device that can convert color image data to black-and-white image data suitable for a background image. One example embodiment of the present invention is an image data conversion device that represents color image data in gray scale to convert the color image data to black-and-white image data and that includes determination means for determining whether or not the black-and-white image data is data used for a background image; and image data conversion means for converting the color image data to black-and-white image data using brightness values ranging from a background image minimum brightness value to a maximum brightness value when the black-and-white image data is data used for a background image.

    摘要: A binary image of an input image is generated, and a character region within the binary image and a region surrounding each character are acquired as character segmentation rectangle information. A thinning process is executed on a region within the binary image which is identified based on the character segmentation rectangle information to acquire a thinned image. An edge detected image of the region identified based on the character segmentation rectangle information is acquired. Whether each character identified based on the character segmentation rectangle information is a character to be separated from a background by the binarization process or not is determined based on a result of a logical AND of the thinned image and the edge detected image.

    摘要: An image reading apparatus includes a gray reference member, a reading unit, an adjusting unit, a calibration unit, a storage unit, and a control unit. The control unit is configured to execute a first preprocessing and a second preprocessing. The first preprocessing includes: acquiring first black data from one line worth of image data; acquiring white data; calculating white-black difference data; acquiring first light gray data; and calculating first light gray-black difference data. The second processing includes: acquiring second black data from the one line worth of the image data; acquiring second light gray data; calculating second light gray-black difference data; calculating a change ratio by dividing the second light gray-black difference data by the first light gray-black difference data; and calculating calibration data by multiplying the white-black difference data by the change ratio. Shading of the image data is calibrated in response to the calibration data.

A system for scaling a bitonal image is provide that includes: a polarity detection system for detecting a polarity of the bitonal image; a pixel reduction system that generates a scaled image by reducing pixel pairs down to single scaled pixels by selectively applying either a normal or reverse set of pixel reduction rules, wherein an applied set of pixel reduction rules is determined based on a detected polarity; and a line density control system that allows the scaled image to be made lighter or darker by changing the applied set of pixel reduction rules.

    摘要: A smoothing method extracts an evaluation window including a target pixel of a multi-value image data in which tone is represented by a multi-value in units of pixels, and judges black and white of the target pixel according to a predetermined rule, and binarizes pixel data within the evaluation window. Further, the smoothing method generates a correction value based on collating binarized pixel data within the evaluation window and a look-up table which stores patterns in vicinities of the target pixel, and outputs a multi-value correction signal in which the correction value is converted into a multi-value.
