Abstract:
An ultrasonic system operable at high drive frequencies and/or in pulsed operation is disclosed. The system may be used in a procedure to treat an occluded blood vessel. The system can be used to transmit ultrasonic energy from an ultrasonic transducer to a distal end of an ultrasonic transmission device. The ultrasonic device may operate at a resonant frequency. The resonant frequency can be determined prior to using the device and/or during use. The ultrasonic device may operate in a range of frequencies at or near resonance. Operational parameters including, for example, reflected vibrations, temperature, and/or user input can be used by the system to adjust the driving waveform.

The apparatus may include an injectable needle pacing electrode.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for treatment of health and skin conditions through the use of a combination of laser systems or a laser system capable of delivering different pulse durations. The laser system being capable of producing both Q-switched short pulsed laser energy and millisecond long pulsed laser energies. Multiple skin conditions would be susceptible to this treatment, including acne, skin aging and textural changes, pigmentary changes, scarring, rosacea, striae, redness and hair removal.
Abstract:
A self-contained, hand-held device for providing fractional treatment to the skin includes a device body configured to be handheld by a user; a radiation source supported in the device body, the radiation source including a single beam source configured to emit a single energy beam; an application end configured to be manually moved across the skin during a treatment session; and electronics configured to pulse the single beam source to emit a sequence of pulsed energy beams to the skin while the application end is manually moved across the skin, thereby generating an array of treatment spots on the skin, wherein adjacent treatment spots generated on the skin are spaced apart from each other by areas of non-treated skin between the adjacent treatment spots, thereby providing a fractional treatment. Each pulsed energy beam emitted by the beam source has the same, fixed propagation path with respect to the device body.
Abstract:
A device for providing radiation-based dermatological treatments includes a device body configured to be handheld by a user; a VCSEL laser supported in the device body, the VCSEL laser including multiple spaced-apart VCSEL beam sources configured to generate multiple discrete laser beams for generating multiple discrete treatment spots on the skin; an application end configured to be manually moved across the surface of the skin during a treatment session; and electronics configured to control the multiple VCSEL beam sources to emit the multiple discrete laser beams toward the skin to provide a dermatological treatment.
Abstract:
In various embodiments, a surgical console may include a pneumatic valve to drive a pneumatic tool coupled to the surgical console. The console may further include a controller operable to control and adjust the valve open/close cycle times according to a valve duty cycle. The valve may switch between ports (valve open time for a first port and valve close time for a second port) such that a total valve time may approximately equal the valve open time plus the valve close time. The valve duty cycle may indicate a percentage of the total valve time for the controller to signal the valve to open and may include an adjustment that corresponds to a signal timing of the open and/or closed valve positions that will result in open and closed operating pressures above a predetermined threshold.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a disposable needle for adipose tissue treatment. The needle comprises a light conducting body having a first end and a second end. The first end is configured for introduction into adipose tissue and the second end is adapted to connect to a source of laser radiation. For adipose tissue treatment the needle is introduced into the tissue and laser radiation is applied to a segment of tissue to be treated.
Abstract:
Improved assemblies, systems, and methods provide safeguarding against tissue injury during surgical procedures and/or identify nerve damage occurring prior to surgery and/or verify range of motion or attributes of muscle contraction during reconstructive surgery. A stimulation control device may incorporate a range of low and high intensity stimulation to provide a stimulation and evaluation of both nerves and muscles. A stimulation control device is removably coupled to a surgical device or is imbedded within the medical device to provide a stimulation and treatment medical device. A disposable hand held stimulation system includes an operative element extending from the housing, the housing includes an operative element adjustment portion and a visual indication to provide feedback or status to the user.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for damaging hair follicles using a series of rapidly-delivered low-fluence pulses of coherent or incoherent light are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the pulses of coherent or incoherent light have a wavelength or wavelengths primarily in the range between 750 nm and 1500 nm. In some embodiments, applied electromagnetic radiation comprising the rapidly-delivered low-fluence pulses is effective for concomitantly heating both the sub-dermal layer (i.e. the dermis) of the tissue and the hair follicles. In some embodiments, the thermal damaging of the hair follicles is useful for facilitating hair-removal.
Abstract:
A system (10) for generating a magnetic field for excitation of a leadless marker assembly (14) includes a source generator (18) that generates a plurality of alternating electrical signals each having an independently adjustable phase. A plurality of excitation coils (46) are configured to simultaneously receive a respective one of the alternating electrical signals at a selected phase to generate a magnetic field. The phase of the alternating electrical signal for each excitation coil is independently adjustable (206) relative to the phase of the alternating electrical signal for the other excitation coils. The magnetic fields from the excitation coils combine to form a spatially adjustable excitation field (20, 220) for excitation of the remote leadless marker assembly.
