The present invention provides a high-reliable hermetic compressor in which aggression to an organic material is low by using a refrigeration oil using, as a base oil, an alicyclic multivalent carboxylic acid ester compound and made of an alicyclic multivalent carboxylic acid ester compound having at least two ester groups, the at least two ester groups being bound to carbon atoms adjacent to each other on an alicyclic ring. The ratio of hydrocarbon radicals in which carbon number is 4 or less among hydrocarbon radicals bound to the at least two ester groups is 15% by weight or less.

An engine lubricant, especially an SAE OW engine lubricant is described. The engine lubricant has at least 15 wt% of at least one diester and not more than 15 wt% of additives, wherein said at least one diester, or mixture of said diesters if more than one is present, has a kinematic viscosity at 100°C of not more than 3.3, a viscosity index of at least 130, a pour point of not more than -30°C and a Noack evaporation loss of not more than 15 wt%. The diester is preferably selected from the group consisting of: a) reaction products of at least one C 5 to C 12 , preferably C 6 to C 10 , aliphatic dicarboxylic acid or anhydride thereof with at least one primary or secondary C 7 to C 12 , preferably C 8 to C 10 aliphatic alcohol, wherein, if said at least one acid is branched, then at least one of said at least one alcohol is linear and, if said at least one acid is linear, then at least one of said at least one alcohol is branched; and b) reaction products of at least one C 5 to C 12 , preferably C 6 to C 10 , aliphatic monocarboxylic acid with at least one polyalkylene glycol wherein the alkyl group is selected from a C 2 to C 4 alkyl group and mixtures thereof, and wherein, if said at least one poly(alkylene glycol) contains at least one repeat unit that is branched methyl group, then at least one of said at least one acid is linear and, if said at least one poly(alkylene glycol) contains only linear repeat units, then at least one of said at least one acid is branched.

Disclosed is a water-soluble and oil-soluble oil solution, which enables to have excellent feeling of use without making the skin greasy when applied thereto. Also disclosed are a lubricant, a moisture-retaining agent and a preparation for external application, each containing such an oil solution. Specifically disclosed is an oil solution containing a dibasic acid ester compound represented by the following general formula (I). In the formula (I), R 1 represents an optionally substituted alkylene group having 2-4 carbon atoms; R 2 and R 3 independently represent an optionally substituted alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms; and n and m independently represent an integer of 0-4, with m + n being not less than 1 (excluding the case when both R 2 and R 3 are ethyl groups and both n and m are 1).

Vorgeschlagen wird die Verwendung von Estern mit verzweigten Alkylgruppen, welche Reaktionsprodukte darstellen von Alkoholen der allgemeinen Formel (I) R 1 OH, in der R 1 für einen verzweigten Alkylrest mit 10 bis 40 C-Atomen steht mit: a) aliphatischen Dicarbonsäuren der allgemeinen Formel (II) HOOC-R 2 -COOH, in der R 2 für einen verzweigten oder unverzweigten, gesättigten Alkylrest mit 0 bis 34 C-Atomen steht, oder b) gesättigten Monocarbonsäuren der allgemeinen Formel (III) R 3 -COOH, in der R 3 für einen verzweigten Alkylrest aus 3 bis 39 C-Atomen steht, oder c) gesättigte Monocarbonsäuren der allgemeinen Formel (III) in der R 3 für einen linearen Alkylrest aus 3 bis 29 C-Atomen steht, oder d) einer Mischung aus mindestens zwei der genannten Säuregruppe a)-c) als Schmiermittel mit der Maßgabe, dass die Ester mit verzweigten Alkylgruppen eine Oxidationsstabilität von größer oder gleich 1000 Stunden in einem Test auf Oxidationsstabilität (beispielsweise nach DIN EN ISO 4263-3) aufweisen und eine Verträglichkeit gegenüber Dichtungsmaterialien (beispielsweise nach ASTM D 471), zeigen. Abstract:
A novel biodegradable polyneopentyl polyol (PNP) ester based synthetic ester basestock that includes a PNP ester admixed with a dicarboxylic acid ester coupling agent is provided. The PNP ester-coupling agent mixture is blended further with minor amounts of a single, or mixture of, additional high molecular weight linear or branched chain ester. The final basestocks are compatible with standard lubricant additive packages and miscible with gasoline to provide biodegradable lubricants that have improved viscosity characteristics, good low temperature properties, and improved lubricity for 2-stroke engine lubricant applications.

The present invention relates to a hot rolling process for rolling aluminium and aluminium alloys sheets, comprising applying an effective amount of an oil-in-water emulsion comprising water and a water-soluble oil composition comprising a base stock oil and, based on the total weight of the water-soluble oil composition, from 1 to 80 % by weight of di(2-ethylhexyl) adipate ester. The invention also relates to a water-soluble aluminium and aluminium hot rolling oil composition, to an oil-in water emulsion prepared therewith and to the use of said oil-in-water emulsion in a hot rolling process.

A composition is disclosed that comprises lubricating oil and at least a first antioxidant and a second antioxidant, the first antioxidant being a secondary diarylamine and the second antioxidant being a 2,2,4-trialkyl-1,2-dihydroquinoline or a polymer thereof. Also disclosed is a method of increasing the oxidation stability of a lubricating oil comprising adding thereto at least a first antioxidant and a second antioxidant, the first antioxidant being a secondary diarylamine and the second antioxidant being a 2,2,4-trialkyl-1,2-dihydroquinoline or a polymer thereof.
