Abstract:
The disclosed technology relates to lubricants for driveline and industrial gears containing a mono-ester or a mixture of mono- and di-esters, as well as a method of lubricating driveline and industrial gears with such a lubricant.
Abstract:
A lubricating oil base stock including one or more monoesters represented by the formula (I), (II), (III) and (IV) as defined herein. The lubricating oil base stock has a high temperature high shear (HTHS) viscosity of less than about 1.7 cP as determined by ASTM D4683, and a Noack volatility from about 15 to about 90 percent as determined by ASTM D5800. A lubricating oil containing the lubricating oil base stock including one or more monoesters represented by the formula (I), (II), (III) and (IV) as defined herein. A method for improving one or more of thermal and oxidative stability, solubility and dispersancy of polar additives, deposit control and traction control in a lubricating oil by using as the lubricating oil a formulated oil containing the lubricating oil base stock including one or more monoesters represented by the formula (I), (II), (III) and (IV) as defined herein.
Abstract:
The use as an anti-wear additive and/or friction modifier in a non-aqueous lubricant composition and/or in a fuel composition of at least one long chain fatty acid ester of a hydroxy carboxylic acid in which the long chain fatty acid has at least 4 carbon atoms and the ester is an oil-soluble ester of a mono- or poly- hydroxy carboxylic acid having 1 to 4 groups which are independently carboxylic acid groups or lower hydrocarbyl esters thereof and in which, when the hydroxy carboxylic acid is a mono-hydroxy carboxylic acid, the ester has a long chain fatty acid ester moiety of the hydroxy group of the hydroxy carboxylic acid and, when the hydroxy carboxylic acid is a poly-hydroxy carboxylic acid, the ester has independently long chain fatty acid ester moieties of one or two of the hydroxy groups of the poly-hydroxy carboxylic acid. Also, a non-aqueous lubricant composition and a fuel composition for an internal combustion engine which comprises at least one of said long chain fatty acid esters.
Abstract:
A refrigerating machine oil composition containing an alicyclic polycarboxylic ester compound which is obtained from the following compounds (a) to (c): an alicyclic polycarboxylic acid which has an alicyclic ring and two or more carboxyl groups and in which at least two of the carboxyl groups are bonded to adjacent carbon atoms on the alicyclic ring, or a derivative thereof; a compound having two or more hydroxyl groups or a derivative thereof; and a compound having one hydroxyl group or a derivative thereof. When used in combination with an HFC refrigerant or a natural type refrigerant such as carbon dioxide or a hydrocarbon, the composition can have an excellent balance among all of lubricity, compatibility with the refrigerant, thermal/hydrolytic stability, and electrical insulating properties.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cold rolling process for rolling hard metal or metal alloys, comprising applying an effective amount of an oil composition comprising a base stock oil and, based on the total weight of the composition, from 1 to 80 % by weight of di(2-ethylhexyl) adipate. Example of hard metals include steel and nickel.
Abstract:
Lubricating oils exhibiting anti rust-properties are obtained by adding to the lubricating oil an acidic anti-rust additive and an acid scavenger such as carbodiimide, in a specific sequence.
