Abstract:
Some examples of producing water-based drilling fluids including ecofriendly lubricating additives are described. A raw material oil including fatty acids with a short chain alcohol is esterified in the presence of a catalyst to produce alkyl ester products and triglycerides. The alkyl ester products are washed and heated to remove any residual water or the short chain alcohol. A first quantity of the alkyl ester products is mixed with a second quantity of a water-based wellbore drilling fluid.
Abstract:
A lubricant composition comprising an alkylated naphthalene component and a mineral oil component and which is essentially free of ammonia reactive components is described. In certain examples, the lubricant composition is food grade. The lubricant compositions are particularly well suited for use in ammonia refrigeration compressors and ammonia refrigerant transfer pumps. The mineral oil has no more than about 60 percent of paraffinic compounds by weight of the mineral oil. When used to lubricate ammonia refrigeration compressors, the lubricant composition has an ISO VG of 46 to 100. When used to lubricate ammonia refrigerant transfer pumps, the lubricant composition has an ISO VG of 22 to 46.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of an ester in a reactor, wherein at least one of at least two different catalysts is an electron donor and a further catalyst is a sulphur-containing proton donor; a device, a process for the preparation of a thermoplastic composition comprising the ester prepared according to the invention, a process for the production of a shaped article comprising the ester according to the invention or the thermoplastic composition according to the invention, a process for the production of a packed product, a process for the production of an at least partly coated object, and uses of the esters according to the invention as an additive in various compositions.
Abstract:
This invention relates to anthranilate esters and their use in lubricants, such as engine oils. The invention particularly relates to compositions that deliver an ash-free base to a lubricant in the form of a basic amine additive, without adversely impacting seal compatibility and/or degradation, and methods thereof.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cylinder lubricant having a BN, determined according to the ASTM D-2896 standard, of greater than or equal to 40 milligrams of potassium hydroxide per gram of lubricant, comprising a lubricant base oil for a marine engine and at least one overbased detergent that is based on alkali or alkaline-earth metals, and which also contains an amount of 0.01% to 10% by weight relative to the total weight of the lubricant, of one or more compounds (A) chosen from esters of saturated fatty monoacids comprising at least 14 carbon atoms and of alcohols comprising at most 6 carbon atoms.
Abstract:
Processes are described for producing liquid, biobased lubricant additives containing from 50 to 100% biobased carbon according to ASTM D6866 from heat-bodied oils by transesterification with biobased or petroleum based alcohols and by hydrogenation of at least the resulting diesters, triesters and polyesters.
Abstract:

Abstract:
The invention provides hydrolases, polynucleotides encoding them, and methods of making and using these polynucleotides and polypeptides. In one aspect, the invention is directed to polypeptides, e.g., enzymes, having a hydrolase activity, e.g., an esterase, acylase, lipase, phospholipase (e.g., phosphlipase A, B, C and D acitvity, patatin activity, lipid acyl hydrolase (LAH) activity) or protease activity, including thermostable and thermotolerant hydrolase activity, and polynucleotides encoding these enzyme, and making and using these polynucleotides and polypeptides. The hydrolase activities of the polypeptides and peptides of the invention include esterase activity, lipase activity (hydrolysis of lipids), acidolysis reactions (to replace an esterified fatty acid with a free fatty acid), transesterification reactions (exchange of fatty acids between triglycerides), ester synthesis, ester interchange reactions, phospholipase activity and protease activity (hydrolysis of peptide bonds). The polypeptides of the invention can be used in a variety of pharmaceutical, agricultural and industrial contexts, including the manufacture of cosmetics and nutraceuticals. In another aspect, the polypeptides of the invention are used to synthesize enantiomerically pure chiral products.
Abstract:
Non-staining, active metal-working compositions are disclosed. The compositions contain active sulfur to provide extreme pressure properties for metal-working fluids. A metal corrosion inhibitor is disclosed that reduces the corrosivity of free sulfur on non-ferrous metallic objects.
