Abstract:
Device and methods for use in a biosensor comprising a multisite array of test sites, the device and methods being useful for modulating the binding interactions between a (biomolecular) probe or detection agent and an analyte of interest by modulating the pH or ionic gradient near the electrodes in such biosensor. An electrochemically active agent that is suitable for use in biological buffers for changing the pH of the biological buffers. Method for changing the pH of biological buffers using the electrochemically active agents. The methods of modulating the binding interactions provided in a biosensor, analytic methods for more accurately controlling and measuring the pH or ionic gradient near the electrodes in such biosensor, and analytic methods for more accurately measuring an analyte of interest in a biological sample.
Abstract:
A system and a method for detecting bubbles in an aqueous solution involve placing the solution onto a measurement area of a glass slide used for performing a life science experiment, the measurement area containing a plurality of electrodes. The slide includes a control unit that measures capacitance values associated with individual ones of the electrodes and/or pairs of the electrodes. A data processing unit receives and analyzes the measured capacitances to identify a presence and a location of a bubble in the solution. The system and the slide can optionally be used to adjust the pH level of the solution using at least some of the electrodes.

Abstract:
An imaging system for low-power and low data-rate applications is provided. The imaging system comprises a pixel array having a plurality of photosensitive elements (pixels) divided into a plurality of groups of photosensitive elements (super pixels). An image processor is operably connected to the pixel array and configured to selectively operate each group of photosensitive elements in either (i) a high resolution mode in which the pixel array outputs readout voltages corresponding to all of the photosensitive elements in the respective group of photosensitive elements or (ii) a low resolution mode in which the pixel array outputs readout voltages corresponding to only a subset of the photosensitive elements in the respective group of photosensitive elements. Groups of photosensitive elements corresponding to detected motion in each image frame are operated in the high resolution mode, while the remaining groups of photosensitive elements are operated in the low resolution mode.

Abstract:
A bifunctional polymer is functionalized at one end with an azlactone end group to conjugate biomolecules of interest, and is functionalized at another end with an azide anchor group to attach the polymer to a substrate. Methods of making the bifunctional polymer are also provided. A coated substrate includes the bifunctionalized polymers on the surface of a substrate. Methods of making the coated substrate are also provided. A microarray includes a plurality of discrete regions, each region including the coated substrate.

Abstract:
A method of aligning a semiconductor chip includes forming a semiconductor chip with a light-activated circuit including at least one photosite, positioning the semiconductor chip relative to a device, and illuminating the positioned semiconductor chip. The method further includes generating an RF signal with an RF circuit based upon illumination of the at least one photosite, and determining the position of the photosite with respect to the device based upon the generated RF signal.
