Abstract:
A method, system, device and computer program product for automatically detecting a topology of a local area network, LAN. The LAN may be included in a telecommunication node, e.g. a base transceiver station. The LAN includes a central host and further hosts connected to the LAN. The central host sends topology descriptors to the hosts connected to the LAN, the hosts each reporting at least one of the received topology descriptors and other information to the central host. The central host can thus build up a topology data base describing the network topology. The topology descriptors are sent in broadcast frames to the hosts. A host, after having received a topology descriptor, may create one or more dedicated addresses, e.g. from the topology descriptor, and return the address (es) to the central host which may store the address (es).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for assigning addresses to nodes of a communication network tree structure, wherein each node corresponds to a network device of the communication network, comprising a step of determining first tree parameters (C m , R m , L m ), a step of assigning node addresses to nodes in a first section of the tree, i.e. (41, 42, 43, 44a, 44b) directly descending a first node (40), based on a predetermined assignment algorithm and the first tree parameters, a step of determining a first number of available descendent nodes for a particular node (44a, 44b), based on the predetermined assignment algorithm and the first tree parameters, a step of determining second tree parameters (C1112, R m2 , L m2 ) for the particular node, such that a second number of available descendent nodes for the particular node, being determined based on the predetermined assignment algorithm and the second tree parameters, is equal or smaller than the first number of available descendent nodes, and a step of assigning node addresses to nodes in a second section of a tree (45 a, 45b, 46a, 46b) directly descending the particular node, based on the predetermined assignment algorithm and the second tree parameters.
Abstract:
A method of communicating with a network interface includes providing a packet to the network interface, where the packet includes an address field indicating a destination of the packet. The network interface analyzes the address field, and determines if it reflects an address associated with the network interface. If not, the network interface provides the packet to a network. If the network interface determines the address field reflects an address associated with the interface, it provides information in the packet to an application executing at the network interface. Accordingly, information targeted to an application can be communicated by associating an address, such as a network address, with the network interface, allowing for communication of the information without extensive processing of each packet at the interface.
Abstract:
An apparatus, system and process is provided for communicating safety-related data, over an open system, from a sender to a receiver. Safety-related components, including function blocks, flexible function blocks, resource blocks and transducer blocks, as well as, safety-related objects are provided. Also, an extended safety-related protocol provides for authenticating communications between safety-related components over an existing black channel, such as one using a fieldbus Architecture.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Method for bus communication according to the LIN protocol, wherein the LIN master (M) is extended with a functionality for processing a data frame (100). The master has the following properties: - allocation of a node address to each slave (S1,...Sn), - communication of the number of slaves, - allocation of a single identifier to each slave, - reception of the serially transmitted useful data bytes (2) and buffer-storage of the useful data bytes (2), - calculation of a checksum over all received useful data bytes and communication of said checksum to all slaves. An observation window (WW) is opened, in which a bus level change to dominant becomes identifiable by the master (M). The master detects the level change and it processes the useful data bytes (2) further after transmission without a level change or it discards them after transmission with a level change. Each slave is extended with a functionality for processing the data frame (100). The slaves (S1,...Sn) have the following properties: - storage of the individually communicated node address, - storage of the number of slaves, - storage of the identifier according to which all the transmitted useful data bytes are received and buffer-stored in each slave (S1,... Sn), - transmission of the dedicated useful data bytes (2) in a specific order, - calculation of a checksum including the dedicated useful data bytes (2) after reception of all the useful data bytes (2') and buffer-storage of the checksum, - each slave (S1,...Sn) carries out a comparison of the checksum (3') communicated by the master (M) with the checksum that it itself calculated, - each slave (S1,... Sn) communicates an error byte in the observation window (WW) if there is inequality between its own checksum and the checksum communicated by the master.
Abstract:
A plurality of detectors can be evaluated to determine if more than one has been assigned the same address. Responsive thereto, such detectors could be identified for follow-up maintenance, or service.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention relates to a dynamic control method for at least one access control address for at least one terminal (10) to a broadcast network (R2) of the bus type via a frame switching unit (20), said terminal having at least one physical address for access control associated with a line between the terminal (10) and said unit (20). According to the invention, the method comprises the following steps: at the terminal (10), transmission to the unit (20) of a request for assignment of a virtual access control address, said request comprising at least one physical access control address for the terminal (10), at the unit (20), transmission to the terminal (10) of a reply to said request, containing a virtual access control address allocated to the terminal, said virtual access control address being chosen from a list of virtual access control addresses available on said line and registering the allocation of said virtual access control address to the physical access control address of the line in a reference table. Of application to access security to an Ethernet network.
