Abstract:
A rivet carrier (22) for use in association with a driver (28) for driving rivets (24) into a work piece (32). The rivet carrier (22) includes mounting structure (34) for mounting the rivet carrier (22) on the driver (28). A body portion (36) of the rivet carrier (22) is in communication with the mounting structure (34) for receiving and retaining the rivet (24) for engagement by the driver (28). Angled rollers (56) are disposed in the body (36), and there are pivotable arms (46) in the body (36). A resilient member (50) retainably engages the pivotable arms (46). The rollers (56) are retained in recesses (58) in the body (36), and at least a portion of the pivotable arms (46) defines at least a portion of the recesses (58). Preferably, a pair of outlet vents (66) are provided in the body (36) of the rivet carrier (22) for venting air which is used to drive the rivet (24). One outlet vent (66) may be proximate the other outlet vent (66) to create laminar air flow.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method and an implementing equipment for fixing an elastic clamp band (1) to the lugs (5) particularly adapted, for example, for recurrent mounting of a flexible connection pipe (12) on a pipe system (13). The invention is characterised in that it comprises an automatic dispenser (2) of clamp bands (1) arranged to position each clamp band (1) such that its two lugs are externally accessible to be seized by the grips (9, 52, 103) of a hand tool for extracting and fixing (8, 50, 100) which are brought together to compress the lugs (5) of the clamp band (1) by external actuating means (11) separately controlled, the tool (8, 50, 100) comprising means for bringing together the grips (9, 52, 103) freely and reversibly when the external actuating means (11) are activated and means for releasing them instantly or gradually at the desired moment with an external control (14, 123).
Abstract:
Fastener delivery apparatus for automatically selecting and delivering fasteners such as rivets to a setting tool (1). The fasteners are pre-loaded in a package (4) and dispense via at least one fastener delivery tube (6) that interconnects the setting tool (1) to a fastener feeder device. The fastener feeder device releases selected fasteners from the package (4) into the delivery tube (6). The fasteners are transportable individually or in groups in the tube (6) from the feeder device to the tool (1). A transfer station (7) attached to the tool (1) or the delivery tube (6) transfers a fastener from the delivery apparatus into the tool (1), the transfer station (7) being moveable between a first position in which an exit of the transfer station (7) is adjacent to the tool (1) so that a delivered fastener may be inserted by the transfer station (7) into the tool (1) and a second position in which it is clear of the tool (1) so as to permit the tool (1) or a portion thereof to move towards a workpiece to insert a loaded fastener. The delivery tube (6) has wear resistant elements. The apparatus allows smooth, rapid and reliable delivery of fasteners of various sizes and types to the nose of a setting tool (1) in any particular order and provides all the fastener types for any particular work cycle.
Abstract:
A machine for driving inserts into pieces of sheet metal includes an automatic loading device (60) having a plurality of cartridges (62) containing inserts (70) of different types. Each cartridge (62) can be connected selectively to an insert-supply duct integral with the punch (46).
Abstract:
Attaching machine (10) has a readily removable upper and lower tool assembly (60) which can be slid out of the machine frame (12) when tools need to be changed. Tool assembly drive means (32, 34) is automatically connected to the new tool assembly as it is slid into final position within an opening (90) in the machine frame.
Abstract:
A tape automated bonding feeder apparatus employs a vertical carrier extraction unit (12) to successively supply electronic circuit components to an output station (51) from which a component is seized for placement and attachment to a circuit board. The feeder apparatus, which may be mounted on a rollable cart (501), includes a generally rectilinear housing (10) on a top plate of which one or more magazines (11) are mounted. A magazine contains a stack of circuit component carriers. The bottom of the magazine has a carrier extraction unit which controllably allows an individual component carrier at the bottom of the stack to drop away onto an underlying carrier shuttle (26). The carrier shuttle is supported for movement between the magazine and a lead forming unit (31). The lead forming unit detaches a component from the carrier and forms the leads of the excised component for mounting the component to a circuit board. A processed component transport unit (41) is coupled to an anvil of the lead forming unit and transports a processed component to the output station.
Abstract:
An apparatus for staking to a leader block (24) the trailing end of a length of magnetic tape (28) wound on a reel (26) of a substantially closed cartridge (20). The leader block is sized and shaped to fit into and close an opening in the wall of the cartridge and later when the cartridge is in use to provide a means by which the tape may be grasped to be withdrawn from the cartridge. The present apparatus is mounted on a movable platform (44) which permits its withdrawal to a retracted loading position out of the way of a cartridge loading or winding operation. In its retracted position, the apparatus is provided with a short length of rod (30) to be used later for securing the trailing end to the block by staking the rod length with the tape end into an appropriately sized slot in the leader block. In addition to a nest (48) for receiving a rod length in position for a future staking operation, the present apparatus includes a staking punch (74) and devices (82, 88) for advancing and retracting the movable platform. There is also included in the apparatus a series of apertures (134, 136) connected to a vacuum source for holding the tape temporarily at a location where it is to be cut after the cartridge is fully loaded and thereafter to cooperate in controlling the tape with other instrumentalities for initiating the next winding operation.
Abstract:
Transport anchors (2) to be introduced into moulds for concrete parts are held at disposal in a magazine (1). An ejection device (3) transversally displaceable with respect to the longitudinal axis of the lowest transport anchor (2) in the magazine (1) brings the transport anchor (2) to a gripping member (5) which grips the head of the transport anchor (2). By means of a displaceable carriage (4) carrying the gripping member (5), the transport anchor (2) seized by the gripping member (5) is introduced into the mould by its free end.
