Abstract:
An electroplating process is performed using a substrate that includes a thickness of voltage switchable dielectric (VSD) material having photoactive components that are dispersed, mixed or dissolved in a binder of the VSD material. A pattern of conductive elements may be formed on the substrate by switching the VSD material from a dielectric state to a conductive state using, in part, voltage generated by directing light onto the thickness and VSD material.
Abstract:
A computing device is provided comprising a keypad having a plurality of key structures, and a sensor mechanism. The sensor mechanism is positioned with respect to the keypad to provide a sensor detection region that overlays at least a portion of the keypad. The sensor mechanism is configured to detect an object in the sensor detection region and provide an output indicating the detected. The computing device further includes one or more processors that are programmed, instructed or otherwise configured to (i) receive an input signal that corresponds to the output of the sensor mechanism; and (ii) perform an operation in response to the input signal.
Abstract:
In a computing device, customization data is persistently maintained independent of the device's operating system. Customization data may stored in a computing device's persistent memory (or ROM or equivalent memory component), along with but independent of the operating system. When the computing device is first initialized, or when the computing device is initialized immediately after a hard-reset event; the customization data is not lost.
Abstract:
A keypad is provided for a computing device. The keypad includes one or more lighting devices or mechanisms for illuminating a plurality of keys structures. In an embodiment, the plurality of key structures are formed from a milky material.
Abstract:
A small form-factor keyboard or keypad for key structures is provided in which individual key structures have a contact surface on which there is a center reference and a peak. The center reference and the peak or offset, so that an offset distance between the center reference and the peak is greater than or equal to zero. The offset distance for at least two or more key structures in the plurality of key structures may different. The difference in the offset distance may be based on a position of the individual key structures relative to a first reference line.
Abstract:
An embodiment provides for enabling retrieval of a collection of captured images that form at least a portion of a library of images. For each image in the collection, a captured image may be analyzed to recognize information from image data contained in the captured image, and an index may be generated, where the index data is based on the recognized information. Using the index, functionality such as search and retrieval is enabled. Various recognition techniques, including those that use the face, clothing, apparel, and combinations of characteristics may be utilized. Recognition may be performed on, among other things, persons and text carried on objects.
Abstract:
A personal network may be established by interconnecting a plurality of satellites as part of the personal network. Each satellite may be configured to communicate with one or more other satellites. On any given one of the plurality of satellites, data indicating a connectivity status for the one or more other satellites is automatically received, and information indicating a capability of the one or more other satellites is automatically received. The given satellite may be configured to enable at least one other corresponding satellite in the plurality of satellites to be made available for use, so that a capability of the at least one other corresponding satellite is made available for the given satellite.
Abstract:
Techniques are provided for monitoring a database system. A set of data elements may be read from a database system into a device. The device may be external to the database system. From the device, a set of analysis operations are performed on the data elements in order to identify if any of the date elements satisfy a criteria for being considered potentially anomalous. A notification is signaled if potentially anomalous data is identified.
