Abstract:
A thin battery is produced on a surface is taught. A first electrode layer and a second electrode layer are provided on the surface. An electrolyte layer is printed on the first electrode layer and the second electrode layer. The electrolyte layer possesses substantial mechanical strength such that further printings on top of the electrolyte layer can be done. A photopolymerizable protection layer is printed on the electrolyte layer and around a perimeter of the electrolyte layer, wherein the photopolymerizable protection layer solidifies on exposure to suitable radiation. The electrolyte layer comprises at least one first functional group and the photopolymerizable protection layer comprise at least one second functional group such that on exposure to the suitable radiation some of the at least one first functional group makes chemical bonds with some of the at least one second functional group.
Abstract:
The present disclosure sets forth battery components for secondary and/or traction batteries. Described herein are new solid-state lithium (Li) conducting electrolytes including monolithic, single layer, and bi-layer solid-state sulfide-based lithium ion (Li + ) conducting catholytes or electrolytes. These solid-state ion conductors have particular chemical compositions which are arranged and/or bonded through both crystalline and amorphous bonds. Also provided herein are methods of making these solid-state sulfide-based lithium ion conductors including new annealing methods. These ion conductors are useful, for example, as membrane separators in rechargeable batteries.

본 발명의 리튬 이차전지는 양극 활물질을 포함하는 양극, 음극 활물질을 포함하는 음극 및 상기 양극과 음극 사이에 개재된 분리막을 포함하는 리튬 이차전지로, 상기 음극 활물질은, 상기 리튬 이차전지를 0.1 내지 40C의 C-rate 조건으로 SOC 50까지 충전할 때, 측정된 X-선 회절 스펙트럼(XRD)에서 (400)면의 피크 면적 및 (111)면의 피크 면적의 비율이 0.76 이상인 티타늄계 복합체를 포함하는 것일 수 있으며, 이로 인해 출력 특성이 우수한 리튬 이차전지와 BMS 예측 알고리즘이 단순화된 전지팩을 제공할 수 있다.

An electrochemical cell is provided comprising a thin metal foil packaging made from at least one sheet of metal foil and having a perimeter extending around at least a portion of the electrochemical cell, as well as an electrochemical cell stack contained within the thin metal foil packaging, and a metal-to-metal welded seal around at least a portion of the perimeter of the thin metal foil packaging. The metal-to-metal welded seal is hermetic or nearly hermetic. Furthermore, the metal-to-metal welded seal is narrow, having a width of less than about 1 mm, and is less than about 5 mm away from the electrochemical cell stack. In some embodiments, the thin metal foil packaging functions not only as a hermetically or near hermetically sealed packaging, but also as either the negative or positive current collector, with one electrode of the cell bonded to the foil packaging.
