Abstract:
Systems and methods are disclosed herein for contextual data analysis and proactive intervention in industrial plant processes. Each of multiple data streams in an industrial plant are mapped to a common hierarchical data structure, wherein the data streams correspond to respective values or states associated with unit operations, assets, and process streams in the plant. The mapped data streams define hierarchical process relationships between subsets of the unit operations, assets, and process streams. Realtime data is collected to populate at least one level of the hierarchical data structure for certain data streams, wherein future outcomes are predicted for downstream operations based on the collected realtime data for at least one data stream, and at least one other data stream having a defined hierarchical process relationship therewith. Upon ascertaining that predicted future outcomes correspond to issues requiring intervention, output signals are generated based thereon for operator alerts and/or automated control.
Abstract:
A beet washing system features a defoamer dosage controller having a signal processor configured to receive signaling containing information about a volumetric percent of entrained air in a process water used for washing beets; and determine corresponding signaling containing information to control a dosage of defoamer provided to the process water to regulate the amount of foam in the process water used for washing the beets.
Abstract:
Methods for controlling the growth of microorganisms in or on a product, material, or medium, such as a fermentable or fermenting medium, susceptible to attack by a microorganism, by treating with aqueous solution comprising monochloramine and at least one peroxide compound in a synergistically microbicidally effective combined amount to control unwanted microbial growth. Microbicidal aqueous solutions containing monochloramine and at least one peroxide in a synergistically microbicidally effective combined amount to control the growth of at least one microorganism are also described.
Abstract:
A method and system for improving ethanol production from biomass are provided which includes adding at least one separation aid to stillage, that is preferably whole stillage, that contains oil and/or fat generally in the form of an emulsion, to form a treated stillage prior to centrifuging the stillage, and centrifuging the treated stillage in at least one centrifuge to separate at least a portion of the solids content from the treated stillage. The separation aid contains at least one anionic surfactant, at least one non-ionic surfactant, at least one organic solvent that is miscible in water, and water, and optionally at least one lecithin. Treated stillage products are also provided which can contain the indicated separation aid.
Abstract:
Microbicidal compositions including (a) monochloramine and (b) at least one peracid, are described. Components (a) and (b) can be present in a synergistically effective amount to control the growth of at least one microorganism. Methods for controlling the growth of microorganisms with the application of the monochloramine and at least one peracid are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A formulation useful as a creping adhesive formulation or Yankee dryer coating composition is described. Methods of creping using the formulation are also described.
Abstract:
Methods to control organic contaminants in fibers are described. One method involves contacting the fibers with a) at least one zeolite and optionally b) detackifier, or an ester hydrolyzing enzyme, or both, for a sufficient time and in a sufficient amount to control the organic contaminants present in the fibers. This method is effective to reduce stickies in paper mill furnish formed with recycled fibers. A method for pitch control in paper mill furnish formed with virgin fibers is also provided. Resulting paper products formed from the processed fibers are also described as well as methods to make them.
Abstract:
A method to degrade or digest sludge, such as from pulp and/or paper manufacturing, is described. Compositions to use in the method are further described.
Abstract:
A method is described controlling enzymatic decomposition of peroxide comprising contacting a composition containing a peroxide decomposing enzyme with an aldehyde functional polymer added in an amount effective to control the enzyme. There also is a method described for bleaching cellulose pulp, such as recycled paper pulp or other pulps, with an aldehyde functional polymer introduced in an amount effective to control peroxide decomposing enzymes present in the pulp being bleached. Paper products containing the aldehyde functional polymer used to control peroxide decomposing enzymes in a bleaching treatment of cellulose pulp are also provided.
Abstract:
Low amidine content poly(N-vinylformamide-co-vinylamine) (PVAm), is described, as well as processes of making and providing same in fresh or aged formats, and the usage of such polymer to increase papermaking retention and drainage rate and enhance paper dry strength, and other applications.
