Abstract:
A set of workflows are provided for supporting proper user notifications after an action is taken by the user in conjunction with an asynchronous communication service. Timing and/or type of the notifications or an action to be taken by the service is determined based on one or more of a nature of the user action that failed, a time elapsed since the action was taken, multi-action dependencies, device types, and similar characteristics enhancing user experience and reducing confusion.
Abstract:
System and method of diagnosis of incidents and provision of technical support in a communication service which gathers information both from the user and from previous incidents whose information is stored in a database (6), and provides an identification of the problem, as well as a solution if possible, by dynamically determining data about the incident and requesting information according to said data.
Abstract:
User equipment uses traces of service primitives of one or multiple service sessions to automatically discover a service sequence (202, 204). Service sequences are refined (206, 208) by analyzing sequences captured during multiple sessions of the same service. A daemon receives from a plurality of user equipment the observed service sequences. The sequences from different user equipment are aggregated (210). The daemon sends back (214) the refined service sequences to user equipment. User equipment sends (216) a problem report to the daemon and/or a service monitor in the case of a service failure. The daemon or the service monitor aggregates such problem reports and discovers the causes of service degradations.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Systems and methods of managing a network of intelligent devices in communication with a server are disclosed. For each intelligent device that is part of a network a client process associated with the device issues a query to the device causing the issuance of a query to the server for instructions. In a controllable response to the query as a result of the client process the server causes at least one of: (i) downloading, for storage local to the device, at least one of data and instructions, for use in association with the device and (ii) uploading of data pertinent to the device.
Abstract:
A method to facilitate provision of services to a managed system (e.g., a PC, PDA, cell phone) includes causing installation of an agent application on the managed system, the agent application including an install component to install at least one of a plurality of service applications on the managed system. Each of the plurality of service applications is to facilitate provision of a service provided by a respective service provider of a number of service providers to the managed system. A service input (e.g., from an IT administrator) is received at the management system. The service input identifies a subset of a number of service applications to be installed on the managed system. The subset of service applications is distributed to the managed system for installation by the agent application on the managed system.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a provisioning tool and a method for implementing an operating a communications network, particularly a broadband communications network which is arranged to provision a service for a user based on information available via another user connection; this facilitates provision. In a preferred embodiment, a user device address is obtained from a user IP address. Provisioning and other network tools with additional or alternative advantageous features are disclosed and the provisioning tools disclosed may communicate with a variety of other tools including planning and inventory applications and agents associated with equipment, all of which are also independently provided, enabling provision of a variety of novel services and features dealing with a spectrum of problems arising in a communications environment, particularly a broadband environment.
Abstract:
Systems (100) and methods for service performance monitoring and management, fault monitoring and management, and repair in a video and data network is provided. The method includes one or more users receiving the service. Additionally, a physical network transport in the video and data network is identified for the one or more users. Further, a virtual network transport in the video and data network is identified for the one or more users. The performance data through the physical network transport and the virtual network transport is monitored. Once the performance data is monitored, one or more threshold values for the one or more users' service are determined and it is determined if the performance data violates at least one of the one or more threshold values. If a threshold value is violated or other network faults are detected, the faults in the network can be located and fixed, in accordance with various systems and methods.
Abstract:
A geographic network management system (GNMS) comprises a web server, a database server, and a map server. A user browser connected to the GNMS transmits a search criteria to the web server. The web server transmits the search criteria to the map server. The map server geocodes the search criteria, obtains network data and geospatial data from the database server corresponding to the geocode, and transmits the geocode, the network data, and the geospatial data to the web server. The web server transmits the geocode, the network data, and the geospatial data to the user browser. The network data and the geospatial data are displayed on the user browser as a map displaying network elements of a telecommunication network relative to other network elements, geographic elements, and customers. One or more of the network elements have associated performance elements that display performance characteristics that signify performance attributes associated with the network element. The user browser can navigate through other network data and geospatial data by selecting network elements on the map or by selecting navigation tools or navigation tabs displayed in conjunction with the map.
