Abstract:
A mineral material processing plant (100) and a method for controlling thereof. The processing plant (100) comprises at least one motor (104), at least one actuator, a control and adjusting system (110,214), a switch (111,111') for switching the processing plant to a standby mode and an arrangement for keeping selected actuators in operation with a reduced standby speed. In the method, a command is given to the processing plant (100) to switch to the standby mode and in response to said command to switch to the standby mode, feeding of mineral material to the processing plant (100) is limited and speed of the motor (104) or motors of the processing plant (100) is reduced from the processing speed (Rf) to a reduced standby speed (Rsb) and it is ensured that selected actuators of the processing plant (100) remain operating with a reduced speed.
Abstract:
A method of sorting fragments of mined material is disclosed. The method comprises exposing the fragments to a source of heating to heat the fragments depending on the susceptibility of the material in the different fragments to the source of heating. The heated fragments are thermally analysed using the temperature of each of the fragments as a basis for the analysis and are sorted into two or more streams on a fragment by fragment basis of the temperature of each fragment relative to a set point temperature. The method further comprises monitoring the grade of the ore in one of the ore streams on a bulk basis and changing the set point temperature based on the monitored grade of the ore in the ore stream. Also disclosed is an apparatus for sorting fragments of mined material.
Abstract:
A system and method of sorting mineral streams, for example laterite mineral ores, into appropriately classified valuable and waste streams for maximum recovery of value from the mineral stream, e.g., a stream of minerals includes receiving response data indicating reflected, absorbed or backscattered energy from a mineral sample exposed to a sensor, where the mineral sample is irradiated with electromagnetic energy. The system determines spectral characteristics of the mineral sample by performing spectral analysis on the response data of the mineral sample and identifies a composition of the mineral sample by comparing the spectral characteristics of the mineral sample to previously developed spectral characteristics of samples of known composition. The system then generates a sort decision for the mineral sample based on the comparison, where the sort decision is used in diverting the mineral sample to a desired destination e.g. pyrometallurgical treatment stages, or to a waste stream.
