Abstract:
The aim of the invention is to realise user performance characteristics for at least one communications terminal (KEc) that is connected to a switching device (LE1) which at least partially does not provide the user performance characteristics. Said communications terminal (KEc) acting as a virtual communications terminal (KEc') is allocated to an additional switching device (CONT) which provides the user performance characteristics. The user performance characteristics are controlled by means of the additional switching device (CONT). Installed switching devices can also be used for the user connection in an advantageous manner.
Abstract:
A mobility extended telecommunications application and method of use which comprises an integrated wireless and wirelined network with central control and which has a programmed interface to translate between the different protocols of the wireless and the wirelined networks to allow for automatic call redirection between said wireless network and said wirelined network. The application also provides for automatic activity detection on the wireline network. The application can be utilized between many networks and facilitates the utilization of the architecture of the wirelined network and the home location register of the wireless network for various applications on the wireless network.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of notifying a call forwarding party about a forwarded call, said method comprising the steps of forwarding a call (S11) from a calling party (T21) to a destination (FD) defined by said call forwarding party (T22); establishing a content (S12) of a notification about said forwarded call; and sending said notification (S13) by a service (NSS) of a communication network to a terminal (T22) of said call forwarding party, wherein said notification comprises said content.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for implementing and updating a routing list in an intelligent communications network. The routing list routes a network service to the service user's IP-compatible terminal (1), telephone set of the wireline network, mobile phone and/or other communications means. In the method is defined in an intelligent network a routing list comprising the numbers of wireline network telephones, mobile network terminals and IP-compatible terminals (1). Logging-to an IP-compatible network (2) is performed from an IP-compatible terminal (1); a connection is established between the IP-compatible terminal (1) and a control unit (5) managing the routing list in order to update the routing list so as to route an incoming call to the IP-compatible terminal (1); while the IP-compatible terminal is assumes a standby state, a connection is established from the IP-compatible terminal (1) to the routing-list-managing control unit (6); and the routing list is updated in the routing-list-managing control unit (6) so that the incoming call will be routed to another communications terminal different from the IP-compatible terminal (1).
Abstract:
A system and method of creating subscriber services in an Internet Protocol (IP)-based telecommunications network. A service creation architecture includes a Service Component Creator (SCC (19)) that creates service proxy objects, and posts them on a Lookup Service (LUS (18)). The LUS is accessible through the Internet (24) by Enterprise Service Creators (ESCs (21)). The ESCs download the posted service proxy objects from the LUS, and customize the downloaded objects to create customized services for enterprise users. The ESCs upload the customized service proxy objects to an Enterprise LUS (23), and the Enterprise LUS downloads the customized service proxy objects to a Service Management Unit (SMU (25, 26)) serving the end user. A gatekeeper (12, 13) serving the end users utilizes the service proxy code downloaded to the SMU to determine the location of a Service Implementation Repository (SIR (27)) that stores actual service code for implementing the customized service. The gatekeeper then downloads the actual service code from the SIR, constructs a customized User Service Agent (USA) that includes the actual service code, and sends the customized USA to an agency (mobile agent platform) at the user's terminal.
Abstract:
A service provider such as a physician or an automobile mechanic is identified from a wireless communicator based on categories of service providers such as physicians or automobile mechanics. In particular, a radiotelephone call is initiated from the wireless communicator to a first telephone number that corresponds to a first service provider of a first category, for example a first physician. The wireless receiver then detects that the radiotelephone call is not successfully completed, for example by detecting that a busy signal is obtained from the first telephone number, by detecting that a radiotelephone call to the first telephone number is repeatedly initiated during a predetermined time and/or by detecting that radiotelephone calls to multiple telephone numbers corresponding to service providers of the first category are initiated during a predetermined time. If the radiotelephone call is not successfully completed, a listing is obtained at the wireless communicator of at least a second telephone number that corresponds to at least a second service provider of the first category. At least part of the listing is displayed on the wireless communicator, so that a radiotelephone call may be initiated from the wireless communicator in response to selection of the second service provider of the first category. Thus, in the example where the service provider is a physician, if a radiotelephone call to a first physician is initiated and is not successfully completed, a listing of physicians may be displayed on the wireless communicator display so that other physicians may be called.
Abstract:
A communication system (100) and a method for operating the same are described to provide seamless, automatic routing of telephone calls over a public switched telephone network (PSTN 160), an internet protocol (IP) network (145), a public-wireless-network (150) and a private-wireless-network (120). In one embodiment, the system (100) comprises a plurality of gateway networks (105) coupled to the PSTN (160), IP network (145) and the public-wireless-network (150). The gateway networks (105) are configured to automatically select over which of the IP network (145), PSTN (160) or the public-wireless-network (150) to route the telephone call. Preferably, the gateway networks (105) are configured to reroute an in-progress telephone call over the IP network (145) over the PSTN (160) if a delay in transmission of date packets, losses in transmission of data packets, or jitter exceeds a specified maximum. More preferably, the gateway networks (105) are configured so that the routing of the telephone call is substantially transparent to the calling party and to the called party.
Abstract:
System for establishing a telephone connection between a first telephone handset and a second telephone handset. Each subscriber to a telephone service has, in addition to the first handset, a computer which is connected to the Internet and has been suitably programmed. The telephone service has an information server, by means of which the telephone service administers, and makes available, an own page on the Web for each of its subscribers, as well as an Internet server, by means of which instructions to establish connections from the Internet to a telephone exchange can be transmitted. Furthermore, the system is provided with a memory, in which a number of subscriber data for each subscriber are stored, a telephone exchange, which is able to establish connections via existing telephone communications routes, and a conversion processor, by means of which data originating from a Web page can be converted into control instructions for the telephone exchange. The subscriber first connects to the Internet and receives his/her own page. The subscriber enters his/her identification data, which can be checked by the service on the basis of the data in the database, and enters the numbers of the two handsets, after which the desired connection is established by the telephone exchange.
Abstract:
A system and method for identifying a data record associated with a transferred telephone call which is not dependent on the hardware of the particular telephone network and systems involved. In the preferred embodiment, to transfer a telephone call from a first call center to a second call center, the application server of the first call center sends a transfer request which includes the data record associated with the telephone call and the destination directory number (DDN) to which the call is to be transferred by the application server of the second call center. The application server of the second call center responds by sending a transfer response which includes a Direct Inward Dialing (DID) telephone number selected from a pool of available members to be used to establish the call transfer. The application server of the second call center also stores a transfer coordination record which contains the data record, the DID number and the DDN. Upon arrival of the transferred telephone call to the second call center, the application server of the second call center uses the DID number of the transferred call to access the stored DDN number to redirect the telephone call to the intended destination in the second call center and to access the data record and re-associate the data record with the transferred telephone call. Once the transferred call and associated data record have been re-associated the DID number is available for re-use.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for enabling the redirection of calls made to a terminal in a first subnetwork to a physical connection in a second subnetwork, said subnetworks constituting parts of a communications network having incompatible addressing standards. The apparatus according to the invention comprises means for dynamically allocating an address in said first subnetwork to an address in said second subnetwork. According to the invention units in the respective subnetwork are used to register associations between the addresses according to the different addressing systems.
