Abstract:
The invention relates inter alia to a method of generating information from an animate human or non-human animal body which method comprises: administering to said body a physiologically tolerable material capable of absorbing, scattering or emitting light at a wavelength in the range 300 to 1300 nm; subjecting at least a portion of said body to ultrasound irradiation; detecting light in the wavelength range 300 to 1300 nm from said portion of said body; and manipulating the detected light to generate said information.
Abstract:
Targetable diagnostic and/or therapeutically active agents, e.g. ultrasound contrast agents, comprising a suspension in an aqueous carrier liquid of a reporter comprising gas-containing or gas-generating material, said agent being capable of forming at least two types of binding pairs with a target.
Abstract:
Provided are methods for preparing improved diagnostic liposome products comprising a biologically active amphipathic compound in association with a liposome. Methods for producing the liposome products as well methods of using the liposome products in diagnostic techniques are also provided.
Abstract:
Water soluble biotin-containing compounds and biotinylation reagents incorporating soluble linker moieties are disclosed. The water soluble biotin-containing compounds and biotinylation reagents may additionally comprise one or more moieties that confers resistance to cleavage by biotinidase or that is cleavable in vitro or in vivo. Biotin-containing compounds and biotinylation reagents may include a reactive moiety that provides a site for reaction with yet another moiety, such as targeting, diagnostic or therapeutic functional moiety. Conjugates including functional moieties are disclosed. Biotin dimers, trimers and multimers comprising water soluble linker moieties which demonstrate enhanced water solubility are also disclosed. Methods for amplifying the number of sites for binding biotin-binding proteins at a selected target using biotin trimer compounds are disclosed. Methods for synthesizing the biotin-containing compounds and biotinylation reagents, and methods for using such compounds are described and an example of the invention, streptavidin cross-linking with biotin derivatives is shown in the figure.
Abstract:
Intensively fluorescent derivatives have been synthesized from a substance used at present as anticancer (chemotherapy) agent, against ovarian and mammal tumors, and other tumors. Said derivatives enable to visualize the cellular target of said drug, since the derivatization does not modify the biological activity. There is no existing compound which has the solubility, activity and fluorescence characteristics of the compounds disclosed in the present invention. Said derivatives may be used as fluorescence microscopy colorants specific to microtubules of the cytoskeleton in cells and other living organisms. Said derivatives have many applications in the analysis of the cell anatomy and in clinical diagnosis.
Abstract:
The invention relates to stable aqueous solutions of voltage sensitive dyes. Particularly the invention relates to the proper formulation and storage conditions that provide marketable aqueous solutions of voltage sensitive dyes for use as optical imaging contrast agents.
Abstract:
The subject invention pertains to the use of modified PF4 and recombinant PF4 (rPF4) as well as modified analogs (mutants) of PF4, and peptide fragments thereof, to inhibit angiogenesis. The modified PF4, analogs, and certain fragments are shown to have utility for treating angiogenic diseases and for the inhibition of endothelial cell proliferation. Also, the subject invention concerns modifications of PF4 which extend the half-life and facilitate the targeting of the biological activity of PF4 to specific locations.
Abstract:
Fluorescein dilaurate is dissolved in coconut oil and converted into an oil-in-water emulsion in the presence of a mannitol. The composition is administered orally. Fluorescein and mannitol are excreted in the urine. The ratio of recovered fluorescein and mannitol allows for the detection of pancreatic insufficiency without the need for control experiments.
