Abstract:
This invention relates to a method for removing scale from heat exchangers, evaporators, heaters or other equipment that has problems with scale formation which comprises treating the equipment surfaces having scale with a solution having a scale-removing effective amount of a sodium salt of a polycarboxylic acid chelating agent.
Abstract:
A process for chemical removal of organically- modified silicate (Ormosil) coatings from aluminum alloy substrates without degradation of the underlying metal. An Ormosil film is treated with a zincate solution. The zincate solution dissolves the Ormosil film and deposits a thin, easily-removed layer of zinc onto the aluminum alloy surface, which prevents base-activated dissolution of the underlying metal. The zinc layer may be removed using dilute phosphoric acid, leaving the surface of the aluminum alloy intact. Consequently, the sol-gel coating may be removed while the integrity of the aluminum alloy substrate is maintained.
Abstract:
A recyclable cleaning composition comprising an alkaline solution of at least one surfactant is disclosed. The cleaning composition has improved surfactant recovery upon membrane filtration.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a decontaminating gel consisting of a solution comprising: a) a viscosifier; b) an active decontaminating agent; wherein the viscosifier a) is an exclusively organic viscosifier selected among the water soluble organic polymers. Said gel is designed for radioactive decontamination of surfaces, in particular metal surfaces.
Abstract:
The invention concerns the use in degreasing/cleansing applications of hard surfaces, such as metal surfaces, of at least a compound derived from a terpene and comprising a number of oxypropylene units ranging between 3 and 5, and a number of oxyethylene units ranging between 6 and 10, exclusively. The compound is provided with a concentration lower than 10 g/l, more particularly between 0.01 and 5 g/l, when used.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for machining metal while using a water-mixed cooling lubricant and to a successive cleaning and/or anticorrosion treatment. The inventive method is characterized in that an oil-in-water emulsion is used as a cooling lubricant. Said oil-in-water emulsion contains: i) an emulsifier system comprised of a) ethoxylates/propoxylates of fatty alcohols with 8 to 18 C-atoms in the alcohol with 2 to 6 ethylene oxide units and 4 to 8 propylene oxide units, and b) fatty alcohols and/or fatty alcohol propoxylates with 12 to 24 C-atoms in the alcohol and 0 to 3 propylene oxide units and/or distillation residue of these fatty alcohols in a weight ratio of a : b = 1 : 0.2 to 0.2 : 1 and ii) corrosion inhibitors. The inventive method is also characterized in that an aqueous solution and/or suspension is used for cleaning and/or for anticorrosion treatment. Said solution and/or suspension comprises the same emulsifier system and the same corrosion inhibitors as the cooling lubricant. The cited agent combination is likewise the subject matter of the patent application.
Abstract:
The invention relates to aqueous compositions, comprising calcium ions and metal ions selected from the group comprising Cu, Fe, Zn, Ni and Co, and a specific complexing agent and applications for these aqueous compositions.
Abstract:
A process is disclosed for monitoring the corrosion of the C-steel of which a container, in particular a steam generator, is made, while the container is cleaned with at least one chemical substance which releases during the cleaning process a gas, in particular nitrogen. The volume ratio or quantitative proportions of hydrogen and the released gas in the gas-steam mixture generated during the cleaning process are determined and compared with a threshold value. When the threshold value is exceeded, the cleaning process is interrupted.
