A self-locking paneling system is provided and includes: a panel defining a void therein and a pin positioned within the void; another structure configured to connect with the panel, the other structure comprising a receptacle; and a magnet positioned on at least one of the receptacle and the pin. When the panel and the other structure are positioned together, the pin is configured to move from a retracted position from within the void to an extended position to engage the receptacle using magnetic force produced by the magnet. The self- locking paneling system can be used for raised-flooring systems.

A multi-purpose tile is installable on ceilings walls and floors. The tile includes a base layer of foam plastic material bonded to an upper substrate layer of non-foam plastic or metal material. The bonding process includes pressurization of the foam layer to the non-foam constituents of the tile. The pressure is at a selected level that basically does not change the density of the foam base layer before and after pressurization. The thickness ratio of the foam based layer relati ve to other constituent layers of the tile can be approximately 15 to 20 times thicker than the other constituent layers thus ensuring that the tile is a lightweight, low density structure that is easy to handle and install.

A floor panel assembly comprises sheet-shaped floor panels (1 - 4) made of relatively resilient material. The floor panels are provided with a plurality of edges (5 - 8), wherein a first edge (7) of a first panel (2) and a second edge (8) of a second panel (3) are equipped with joining members (13, 14) which allow a joining of the first and second edges of the two panels by bringing these into engagement with each other, preferably in a relatively inclined position of the panels and then rotating said panels with respect to each other, so as to bring the upper surfaces (9) of both panels substantially in alignment with each other and have them meet at a vertical plane (VP). The first edge (7) being provided with a tongue (17) and the second edge (8) with a groove (18) adapted to receive the tongue therein so as to lock the panels at the adjacent edges at least in a direction perpendicular to the upper side and in a direction parallel to the upper side but perpendicular to the adjacent first and second edges in their joined position. The tongue (17) and groove (18) are so adapted to each other that an upper surface (24) of the tongue is urged against an upper wall (25) of the groove.
