The invention provides a biodegradable and/or compostable pulp composition, moulded pulp article(s) and preparation process thereof. In particular, the biodegradable and/or compostable pulp composition comprises an exogenous protease, e.g. papain and the moulded pulp article(s) are impregnated with the exogeneous protease. The impregnated protease assists in breaking down the moulded pulp article(s) and thus enhances the rate of decomposition. The moulded pulp article(s) according to the invention may be composted within 45 to 180 days. The biodegradable and/or compostable pulp composition may also be composted. The compost obtained may be used as fertilisers. The biodegradable and/or compostable pulp composition and/or the moulded pulp article may also be used as animal feed.

AlkyI esters (butyl, hexyl, or other) of full composition palm fatty acids, palm fatty acid distillates (PFAD), and palm kernel fatty acid distillates (PKFAD) can be used to generate polyurethane and lubricant products. The alkyl esters of the present invention can be produced via ozonolysis. The improved method for producing alkyl esters includes reacting at least one substance having at least one carbon-to-carbon double bond with ozone in the presence of least one monoalcohol that azeotropes with water. In particular, the method may comprise reacting with at least one first mole of ozone and at least one second mole of ozone, and further comprises refluxing before addition of the second mole of ozone.

Simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers identified in Jatropha curcas and useful for the molecular genotyping of plants. are described. These markers may be used for identifying allele polymorphisms, identifying identical or related plants, differentiating plants and studying genetic diversity in a population. The markers may also be used in genetic and phenotype studies using statistical methods, for example, linkage analysis, association mapping, linkage disequilibrium and the like. The information may be used for breeding and/or selection of plants.

The present invention provides a reduced sodium composition comprising at least one potassium salt, at least one sodium salt, at least one emulsifier and at least one thickening agent. For example, the reduced sodium composition comprises at least: one potassium salt, at least one sodium salt, glycerol monostearate and maltodextrin as well as to its method of preparation. The reduced sodium composition is used for enhancing the flavour of food, as a food seasoning, food condiment and/or food additive and provides a healthier alternative to the consumer, in particular where reducing the sodium in the diet is beneficial for health.

The invention relates to a method for processing at least one food product. For example, the invention relates to a process of preparing cooked food products, for example fried food products with reduced oil content. A two-step process is performed on the food product before cooking or frying. The food product is first contacted with a first composition comprising at least one divalent cation (e.g. Ca2+ and/or Mg2+) and at least one acid (e.g. carboxylic acid). After removing from the first composition, the food product is contacted with a second composition comprising okra, a part thereof, or an extract thereof, and at least one hydrocolloid. The invention also relates to the compositions used as well as to the food product or at least one such fried food product with reduced oil content.
