Abstract:
The present application provides methods and compositions that can be used to treat persistent pain and to identify compounds that can be used for treating persistent pain. More specifically, agonists of members of the Mrgpr receptor family, particularly agonists of MrgprXl, can identified and screened for use in treating persistent pain, such as pain caused by inflammation or nerve injury.
Abstract:
The present invention describes new cholinergic/serotoninergic chimeric receptors and provides methods and compositions suitable for screening for ligands such as agonists, antagonists and allosteric modulators of a7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors.

Abstract:
A fiber optic connector assembly with a fiber optic connector mounted to a fiber optic cable and including a ferrule with an end face terminating the fiber. A plug is configured to fit about and engage the ferrule of the fiber optic connector to the seal the end face from contaminants. An adhesive tape is releasably attached to the connector about the plug, holding the plug to the connector. Further, a cover assembly for a fiber optic connector mounted to an end of and terminating a fiber optic cable. The cover includes an open sided box and a lid sized to engage the open side. The box and the lid define a cavity sized to fit about and receive a fiber optic connector. The cavity has an open end adapted to receive the optical fiber cable. The fiber optic connector is held within the cavity and the cable extends through the open end, with the lid engaging the open side and sealing the cavity from contaminants outside the cavity.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a lever actuated sampling system for collecting a constant volume sample in a septum closed container. More particularly, this system provides a reservoir of a predetermined volume which, upon manual lever actuation of valves on the inlet and outlet of the reservoir, reliably captures a sample and provides for routing of the captured sample from the reservoir to the septum closed container.
Abstract:
The invention relates generally to genes expressed in skin cancer cells, particularly melanoma tumor cells (Figure 5), and their role in migration and metastasis. Methods for identifying melanoma cells are provided, as are methods of treating melanoma. Methods for identifying compounds that are useful in the treatment of melanoma are also provided.
Abstract:
The invention includes mammalian multipotent neural stem cells and their progeny and methods for the isolation and clonal propagation of such cells. At the clonal level the stem cells are capable of self regeneration and asymmetrical division. Lineage restriction is demonstrated within developing clones which are sensitive to the local environment. The invention also includes such cells which are transfected with foreign nucleic acid, e.g., to produce an immortalized neural stem cell. The invention further includes transplantation assays which allow for the identification of mammalian multipotent neural stem cells from various tissues and methods for transplanting mammalian neural stem cells and/or neural or glial progenitors into mammals. A novel method for detecting antibodies to neural cell surface markers is disclosed as well as a monoclonal antibody to mouse LNGFR.
