Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to polypeptides, including fusions thereof, nucleic acids, vectors, host cells, immunodiagnostic reagents, kits, and immunoassays for use detecting the presence of HCV antibodies. More specifically, the present invention describes specific NS3 antigens that can be used for the detection of anti-HCV antibodies.
Abstract:
A method of increasing or maintaining lean body mass in leucine conversion-compromised subjects and subjects undergoing treatment for diabetes is provided. The method includes administering an effective amount of β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate (HMB) to a subject with compromised leucine conversion efficiency or a subject undergoing treatment for insulin resistance associated with diabetes. Administration of HMB to a leucine conversion-compromised subject or a subject undergoing treatment for diabetes is effective to increase or maintain the human's lean body mass.
Abstract:
Monoclonal antibodies for the detection of Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) antigen are provided. The antibodies specifically immunoreactive with at least one epitope of the lipid binding domain of amino acid residues 134-171 of HCV core antigen. Immunoassay methods of using antibodies, kits and compositions comprising the antibodies for detecting HCV infection are further provided.
Abstract:
A product package for storing nutritional or pharmaceutical products includes a container having a body and an opening, a closure removably engaged with the container to selectively close the opening of the container, and a sleeve that surrounds at least a portion of one or both of the container and the closure. The sleeve comprises one or more gripping features to facilitate removing the sleeve and/or the closure from the container.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods for enhancing neural function in an individual, such as an older adult. The methods include administering nutritional compositions comprising HMB to the individual. The nutritional compositions provide benefits for individuals that have or may be at risk of having cognitive decline, cognitive impairment, and neural dysfunction, typically resulting from cognitive diseases associated with neurodegenerative diseases.
Abstract:
A container (10) for holding granular or powdered material. The container (10) includes walls, a collar (14), a lid (16) and a latch (200). The walls define an interior space (26) and an upper portion, the upper portion defining a sealing flange (30) and an opening to the interior space. The collar (14) is attached to the upper portion. The lid 816) is attached to the collar (14) for positioning between an open position and a closed position, and adapted to cover the opening while in the closed position. The latch (200) is attached to an outer surface of the lid (16). The latch may have an actuator (202) rotatable in two directions relative to the lid and detachably engaged to a catch (220) which protrudes from an outside surface of the collar (14).
Abstract:
A method of designing a primer for detecting a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), a method of detecting an SNP, a method of distinguishing SNPs, primers, detectable oligonucleotides, and kits.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a stent graft, adapted for being inserted into a blood vessel, and to a method for forming a stent graft. The stent graft (1) comprises a first stent (2) comprising a plurality of first rings (4) being connected by at least one first connector, wherein the first stent (2) is arranged at least partly in an inner part of the stent graft (1), a second stent (3) comprising a plurality of second rings (5) being connected by at least one second connector, wherein the second stent (3) is arranged at least partly in an outer part of the stent graft (1), and a graft layer is arranged at least partly between the first stent (2) and the second stent (3), wherein the first stent (2) and the second stent (3) having each a predetermined length and the plurality of first rings (4) and the plurality of second rings (5) are axially arranged along the length such that the plurality of second rings (5) fit into the plurality of first rings (4). In this way, a possibility is provided to avoid the problem of integrity in connection with having as less as possible interaction between the first stent and the second stent and thus to minimize the risks of shear effects.
Abstract:
Disclosed are ultrasonically-produced nutritional powders and methods of manufacturing the nutritional powders, including ultrasonically-produced infant nutritional powders and ultrasonically-produced adult nutritional powders.
