Abstract:
A hybrid data distribution system (100) includes a modulator (150) coupled to an analog device (170), one or more processors (140) coupled to the modulator (150), and a database (110) coupled to the one or more processors (140). The database (110) is configured to store encoded data. The system also includes an Ethernet switch (130) for transmitting the encoded data to a digital device (160). The Ethernet switch (130) is coupled to each of the database (110) and the digital device (160). Moreover, the one or more processors (140) are configured to directly or indirectly obtain the encoded data from the database (110), decode the encoded data, and directly or indirectly transmit the decoded data to the modulator (150). The modulator (150) is configured to transmit the decoded data to the analog device (170), and the Ethernet switch (130) is configured to directly or indirectly obtain the encoded data from the database (110), and to transmit the encoded data to the digital device (160). For example, the analog device (170) may be coupled to a first viewing surface and may be configured to display the decoded information received from the modulator (150) on the first viewing surface. Similarly, the digital device (160) may be coupled to a second viewing surface. The digital device (160) may be configured to decode the encoded data received from the Ethernet switch (130), and to display the decoded information on the second viewing surface.

Abstract:
A method for purchasing an item using a mobile device is provided. The method includes but is not limited to inputting identification information into the mobile device which identifies the item for purchase and generating an order for the item identified by the identification information. The method also includes but is not limited to displaying on a display of the mobile device an optical machine-readable representation of the order.
Abstract:
A server device receives identity data retrieved from an appliance through use of a physical and logical interconnection referenced to a standard. The identity data is used at the server device to identify within a database having a plurality of appliance records, each of which is cross-referenced to an appliance, an appliance record having data in one or more record fields which matches the identity data retrieved from the appliance. A codeset identifier associated with the identified appliance record is then used to select from a plurality of codesets a codeset for use in configuring the portable device to command functional operations of the appliance.

Abstract:
A method of purifying lunasin or a lunasin-containing complex produced in a plant includes providing a plant material from the plant, and isolating the lunasin-containing complex from the plant material, and/or releasing lunasin from the lunasin-containing complex. A composition for treating a cancer or an inflammation-related disease in a subject includes a lunasin-containing complex. A composition for treating a cancer or an inflammation-related disease in a subject includes a lunasin polypeptide and/or a lunasin-containing complex; and curcumin, wherein the combination of the a lunasin polypeptide or lunasin-containing complex and the curcumin has a synergistic effect. A method for treating a cancer or an inflammation-related disease includes administering a composition including a lunasin-containing complex, or a lunasin polypeptide and/or a lunasin-containing complex, and curcumin.

Abstract:
A controlling device is automatically configured to issue a communication directly to a first controllable appliance to control a functional operation of the first controllable appliance in the event that the first controllable appliance is determined to be unresponsive to a command communication transmitted to the first controllable appliance via a digital communications link or to issue a communication to a second controllable appliance to control the functional operation of the first controllable appliance via a digital communications link in the event that first controllable appliance is determined to be responsive to a command communication transmitted to the first controllable appliance via a digital communications link.
